Yesterday was good, calories in line (1190) and minimal snacking.
01/08 - 192.2
This is so demoralizing. I’ve been below 1400 calories for 5 days. Yesterday I had 1329 annd nothing crazy. Obviously I have to go lower to lose, but that’s what got me into this mess, a very restrictive elimination diet during which my daily calories were around 1,000. I’m very discouraged.
01/09 - 192.2
I went out for my regular Monday lunch with my friend, but had a salad with grilled chicken and avocado, no dressing, so I behaved myself. Then vegetarian chili (Moosewood fiesta chili) for dinner. Good day.
01/10 - 192.2
Another morning with no change after a day of responsible eating. It has to budge sometime!
01/11 - 192.2
I had a mini binge last night, but am back on track this morning. Yesterday wasn’t a complete mess though—I had lots of protein, no saturated fat, and lower carbs than usual. For a while I’ve been having one slice of Dave’s Killer Bread thin sliced with a Tbs of fruit-only spread for breakfast, but I’m stopping that, starting this morning with an over-easy egg cooked with 0 calorie avocado oil spray. It was delicious, and makes me feel the day isn’t already wasted. 😊
01/12 - 191.8
Not exactly a whoosh, but I’ll take it!
01/13 - 191.6
Today should be good. I had a solid healthy breakfast, and we’re going to friends’ house for late lunch/early dinner of homemade veggie beef soup. She’s also trying to lose, so is conscious of that. We signed our new wills yesterday, which is a big looming “thing” we’d put off for ages, so that’s good to have off our minds. It’s bitter out today—25F, wind chill 7, big wind gusts, so no walk. Happy Saturday, all!
01/14 - 192.2
Brrrr— -4F, wind chill -20. No dog walk today!
01/15 - 192
I had two cookies yesterday at my friend’s house, but otherwise I ate responsibly. Going out for lunch, planning to have Greek salad.
01/16 - 192.8
Ugh. But I did go over calories, and I’m sure some of this is salt/water since I went out for lunch yesterday. I’ve been having trouble sleeping the past few nights due to phlegm in my throat—I can’t swallow properly and I cough a lot. It’s much worse at night when I lie down. I’m running a vaporizer and it helps, and I use Ayr saline gel in my nose, which also helps, but not enough. I drink lots of water but am going to increase it. Antihistamines help, but I don’t like to take them too often. I got some Mucinex this morning and will try that as well. Anyone have any suggestions based on experience? I fixed my leg & foot cramps with suggestions from this group, so…. 😊.

01/16 - 153.1 - Sorry for my absence! We got hit by the cold front pretty hard here in Texas. My water has been out (barely a dribble) since Sunday morning and my internet out yesterday. Fortunately it is back today for work (was off yesterday for MLK day) I've been weighing, as you see. I'm up today due to being carb heavy yesterday with peanut butter oatmeal for breakfast and soups (potato leek for lunch, chicken & homemade dumplings for dinner) with homemade bread with both to stay cozy. In addition, no TMI due to no water - both drinking (rationed) and for flushing! Hopefully today is the last full day below freezing. The forecast shows we'll finally be above freezing around noon tomorrow, whew. I'm tentatively planning my first workout since Friday to be Thursday so long as we get our water back. Today has potential for rolling blackouts but hopefully we can avoid those - I have broccoli cheese (keto) soup for lunch and a brisket taco on cheese shell for dinner (with a Mexican chicken casserole if that doesn't work out like we hope). Everything in our house is electric (except the fireplace) so we'll have to figure out food if we lose power otherwise. We've both been in the Army and know how to make it work so don't worry about us here (:
Previous Day's Comments01/07 - DNP
01/08 - Well I wasn't expecting that after last night's dinner. We went to friend's to hang out for a bit and had homemade burgers. I munched on too many chips, honestly. I did, however, munch on a loooot of veggies from the veggie tray we brought. Today I ran on the treadmill due to the horrible wind we're having. Managed 2 miles. Will slowly up that to 3 miles (5k) then incorporate my 10k training from there since my 10k training is really a 5k to 10k program). Low carb today. Dinner is garlic lemon shrimp with creamed spinach. Lunch is egg roll in a bowl. Not much else to report on but feeling very hopeful for this round!
01/09 - I was very low on calories yesterday on top of my 2 mile treadmill run. I simply wasn't hungry and that was very nice after several days of what seemed like insatiable hunger. I even kept it to 2 Adkins peanut butter cups as a "stress" treat during last night's championship. We are national champs! (I'm a complete Michigan Wolverine fan despite living in Texas - I have been since I was a young child). I need to do a bodyweight upper body strength at some point today but I slept in after staying up several hours past my bedtime watching the game. Taking it easy today. "Normal" eating and we have the calorie-bomb enchiladas tonight for dinner so will need to be cautious about my breakfast and lunch.
01/10 - Shocked it's not higher. I was over calories by a bit having enjoyed a black cherry soda with dinner. Dinner was, as mentioned, higher calorie homemade red chicken enchiladas. I forced myself to stop eating at my usual spot despite it tasting so good and wanting to eat the entire plate. Glad I did AND remembered to take my lactose pill. Both of those likely helped keep this jump up less than what I expected based on past experiences. Low Carb today - eating a low carb breakfast sandwich I pieced together, lunch is egg roll in a bowl, and dinner is chicken quarters with cabbage and mushroom sides. Had an early morning meeting so I got out and ran 2.5 miles with just enough time to strip off my jacket, hat, gloves and hop on said call after. Whew! I was still panting when it started, but I'm glad I got it done otherwise it likely would've been postponed until tomorrow. I need to walk the (very upset) dogs around my lunch break. Hopefully it'll be warmer and my firewood is delivered early enough to give me time to cook, eat, and walk before my next meeting. Fingers crossed! I'm not cooking tonight, though, so I can take them after work before it gets dark, too, if need be.
01/11 - Not going to lie, I was hoping for a lower number. I did really well yesterday. Some of this may be salt as BF cooked and he always adds extra salt. Today I completed my lower body strength of bodyweight squats and single leg RDL with 10lb kettlebell. I'm making progress by needing less recovery time between each set, even after long runs. Let's see how this feels tomorrow during my longer run. Today's dinner is pork chops with baked potato and green beans. I'm not sure breakfast or lunch, but I'm aiming to keep fairly low carb. I just input my creamer (I wanted to try a combination so I used regular creamer) and dinner - 60g net. If I can keep breakfast and lunch to a minimum, I can stay under 100g net for the day. I will try!
01/12 - Not bad for a normal eating day! I stayed under 100g net carbs for the day and feeling pretty good. Today is low carb. Dinner is planned, lunch and breakfast are not but I've been pretty good about that. I did a 15 minute treadmill run but that's it. My legs are sore from yesterday's lower body strength and I've pushed hard this week with increasing miles. I can take it easy. I know I can come back and work out more later if I want. Post and groceries this morning. This afternoon going with BF to his haircut appointment and a lady will meet us there to buy our old stationary bike. Busy busy.

This they DIDN’T tell me to clean off deodorant but I hadn’t put any on in preparation. I’m so angry about that and the contortions the mammo tech tried to get me to do. Round 247, my fourth
Nothing changes if nothing changes; so what will be different this round?
First, keep your goals reasonable. Disappointment is a great gate to get to the "Poor Me" syndrome and junk food will quickly follow. One pound per ten days will get me to my goal in plenty of time to hike the PCT in 2025.
Second, record EVERYTHING, you can't change if you don't know what to change.
Third, and this is for ME, all calories are NOT the same; Carbs, for me, trigger strong urges and I don't want to spend much time fighting strong urges. Stick to a lowCarb-NoCarb regime.
Onward, Started this program at 203. Ultimate goal is 156. Starting this round at 194. Goal this round is 193 or 192.
01/07 -194
01/08 -194. Inchinhing my way to 193; I'm close!

01/12 -193
01/13 -193
01/14 -193
01/15 -192
01/16 -192. Goal reached! However, feeling the hunger. Slow down, but NO Carbs!!!

🏋🏾♀️ Don't think, just do it!!
Goals this round:
- Tracking to the best of my ability 🍎and staying under calorie budget -- Defining a higher calorie budget which will make the loss slower but again, more sustainable.
Also get rid of the oops factor. When targets are too low, it easy to say...Oops, I went over so I
might as well have...<fill in the blank>
Update: I increased my calorie budget and am having trouble meeting it with the right macros.

1/7 ~ DNW - Traveling. Tomorrow will be a very interesting number on the scale. I ate and drank somewhat freely on Saturday - celebrating my husband's birthday, but I did get my workout in. Sunday was back to normal with lots of water but little exercise. Actually, I will be happy with whatever I see. I enjoyed my weekend and now it's back to the plan and dry January.
1/8 221
1/9 220.2
1/10 218.4 This is like the first few dates of a new relationship!
1/11 217.4 So.. I'm one of those people that gets on the scale 3 or 4 times to confirm that it's right. Usually it is...but this morning it said 218.2 which I was ok with. After I showered, I tried again and it said 217.4. Of course I had to jump on one more time a few minutes later and 217.4 it is!! I'll take it!! Down 6.2 since 1/1 and 1.6 this round.
1/12 218.8 That 218.2 was probably more accurate...but at any rate...still good. I've got to watch that "snack" tendency. A few more minutes on the treadmill this morning.
1/13 217.4
1/14 218.4 Write 100 times...weight loss is NOT linear!!🙂 Did anyone else have to do this growing up and turn into your teacher! I used to try to write with 2 or 3 pens!
1/15 219.6
1/16 218.4 Down is down.... The end of this round snuck up on me...but all is well. Ready for the next one! I'm glad I saved my info for 2023. There was chatter about data and information and I love it as well. So I'm already ahead of last year.... Cool Beans!! I am determined to beat last year so it's a good incentive!
10 - Defining a higher calorie budget which will make the loss slower but again, more sustainable.

01/14 207.2 ( just a few CAARRRRBS, and weight is up and 1/2" back on my waist.)
01/15 207.5 (a little sad yesterday, but emotionally back on track. Still down 5lbs overall.)

01/14 -183.0- (Trend weight 181.2)
01/15 -183.4- (Trend weight 181.3) I feel like the number should be higher after that salty and starchy ham dinner yesterday complete with potatoes, gravy, dinner rolls and more. I didn't exercise yesterday either to help me burn any of it off. But I need a rest day every now and then. Hopefully the scale won’t creep up even higher tomorrow on the final weigh-in.
01/16 -183.4- (Trend weight 181.5) I thought this would be a bit lower today as yesterday was pretty on-point with diet and exercise. I guess the ham is catching up to me. I did not eat the leftovers yesterday but I probably will today so I guess I’ll see more sodium induced retention, but that should rid itself in the coming days. I do want my body to be able to eat “regular foods” if they are in the right quantity and thoughtfully prepared with my goals in mind. I’m up 0.4 lbs this round but I think all of that and more is related to the new scale. We will see what the next round brings! Nice job to everyone for showing up and showing off. I am proud of everyone for all scale, fitness and NSV accomplishments!
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

01/07 - 176.4, ate really healthy yesterday, cooked and stocked up at Prep'd, so I have 0 excuse for not eating healthy. Didn't walk yesterday, but it's pretty today, and I'm on my way. Slept ok last night.
01/08 - 175, ate very well, walked, sleep better, still needs work.
01/09 - 173.8, ate very well, no walk, didn't sleep. It's going down as easy as it went up. A mind of its own
01/10 - 173, baked. Ate well, but too much. Shopped a lot. Slept badly.
01/11 - 174.2 the scale finally figured out I baked. Lol. Ate very well yesterday. Busy running errands cause the frigid weather is headed our way and we don't know how to handle it, so no walk. Good Sleep still evades me.
01/12 - 175, ate well, no exercise. Slept better
01/13 - 173, Round and round she goes, where she stops, nobody knows. Lol. Ate very well, maybe a little too much. No exercise. Coooold today. Brr. Set the alarm for the middle of the night to get up and turn the water on to make sure it didn't freeze. Still got some good sleep before and after. Made soup to have quick and easy while it's so cold.
01/14 - 172.6, still too cold to get out 🥶. Ate well. 🍲 soup's good! Set alarm again. Slept well 😌 around it.
01/15 - 173.6, ate well all day long yesterday. I can't remember when I was so hungry. The weather man said to feed your dogs more when they're subjected to this cold weather; their body needs it to keep them warm. Is that true for people? No exercise, not much movement.
Slept well until the alarm went off to turn the faucets on. Now I can't go back to sleep.
01/16 - 172.2 ate well. Really getting antsy about this weather. I need to get out and move.
It looks like I really lost a lot of weight this round. 4.2 pounds in 10 days. But I weighed 171.4 on Nov 29.
Crazy December seesaw just threw me off. Maybe it will calm down now. More important, I'm even more aware how much eating healthy vs eating junk affects my weight.

I need to come back here. I have gained 7 pounds since I stopped in round 239. I think staying accountable is key to helping me lose weight. My main focus is to only have 3 meals per day. I am finding it easier to not obsess over food if I don't have snacks but have bigger meals. I am also practising slowing down my eating which helps my brain register that I have eaten. I am aiming to take at least 20 minutes to finish each meal. I have also given up milky coffee which I think was suppressing my hunger for a short time but led to me being hungry after an hour or so. I only drink black tea now. Kudos to all those familiar faces who consistently show up here. You are all an inspiration!
SW RND 247: 165.5 lbs
01/12 : 165.3 lbs
01/13 : 166.4 lbs TOM and pizza night collided. I calculated out my calories but perhaps the sodium intake and TOM messed with my weight.
01/14 : 166.2 lbs I was hoping the weight would fall off as quickly as I gained but I know that doesn't happen most of the time for me. My changed eating pattern is becoming effortless so I count that as progress. But now I am feeling over full after eating 3 larger meals and eliminating snacks. I might try stopping when I am just beginning to feel full. I will put the remaining food away and, if I feel hungry again, I can eat it later. It might get me used of stopping eating when I feel satisfied rather just eating because I have it in my calorie plan. I am mindful my plan could backfire but I think it is worth a shot because I still need to better recognise my fullness signals.
01/15 : 164.7 lbs
01/16 : 164.7 lbs I am happy with a 0.8 lbs loss even though I only started half way through the round. Now to consistently start showing up for future rounds again. See you all next round!8 -

1/7- DNW - completely forgot to weigh 😯- got up and got out the door before I realized I never weighed. Probably just as well - attended a late Xmas party and was not great with my food choices - this is going to be a tough week for me. Both my daughter’s and my birthday this week - so lots of going out and celebrating. Winter Warrior Challenge Day #7 - 3 miles - walked today to give my legs a break. 24 days to go
1/8 - DNW - chaotic morning - first day back to school for my kids after two weeks off and the morning did not go as planned. Was all the way to work before I realized I never weighed in (again 🙁) Winter Warrior Challenge Day #8 - 3 miles
1/9- 154.4 - Winter Warrior Challenge Day #9 - the first day it has actually been “winter” since the challenge began - heavy snow, gusting winds, temps 31 degrees F, feels like 20 - “looking forward” to the same tomorrow
1/10- 153.9 happy birthday to me! Excited to see a loss on my bday….going out to dinner to celebrate tonight so hopefully won't give it all back tomorrow. Winter Warrior Challenge Day #10 - 3 miles in the cold and snow + strength training with personal trainer. Need to get more serious about the strength training. I know I need it to build muscle and help weight loss and prevent running injuries…I just do not enjoy it so it is very much a chore to make myself do it. I won't get the results I want if I don't do the work 🥴
1/11 - 154.1 - Winter Warrior Challenge Day #12 - was feeling very worn down so walked 3 miles instead of running. Running in snow the past 2 days really wore me out. Need to prepare to run in the snow for the next few days as well
1/12 - 153.5 - very exciting to see the trend - feel like holding myself accountable EVERY day is helping me stay on track. Consistency and logging are key!!! Winter Warrior Challenge Day #12 - 3 miles - ran on clear pavement awaiting the arrival of Snowstorm Gerri.
1/13 - 154.2. Not surprising. Lacked will power in the face if left over Christmas candy last night. Winter Warrior Challenge Day # 13 - 5 very snowy and cold miles. Longest run I've done since August.
1/14 - 155.2 😢😩🥴 Feeling like I'm back on the hamster wheel. Was so proud of myself yesterday being tempted by the chocolate again but made myself peppermint tea instead - and being rewarded with a 1lb gain 😩. One step forward, two steps back. Winter Warrior Challenge Day #14 - 3 miles. I earned my “Warrior” status today. Unplowed neighborhood streets (we got over a foot of snow), gusting winds, 12 degrees Fahrenheit feels like ‐3 🥶.
1/15 - 156.0 🙁. Looking back at my food diary - I should not be surprised by this. I over ate by 300+ calories 3 days last week, including last night - which was the birthday celebration for my daughter - she wanted to go out to dinner at Japanese Hibachi so there was no way to avoid high-fat, high-salt food. I ate only half the portion I was given - but it was still a lot of food and VERY salty. Winter Warrior Challenge Day #15 - 3 miles - VERY COLD today - wind chill advisory so I covered up and just went for it. (need to find the link to the next challenge - definitely need to keep going)
1/16 - 155.5 - at least I am going in the right direction - but essentially net neutral from the start of this round (SW was 155.6). Will be grateful that I didn’t end up positive. The season of celebration is finally done (my husband’s, my daughter’s and my birthday are all within 2 weeks of Christmas) and I can get back to a more stable routine. Winter Warrior Challenge Day #16 - 8 degrees fahrenheit, feels like -10 today 😯. I am over the hump… finally I have run more days than I have left to run 🙂 - let the count down begin… 15 days to go.

SW RND 247 180.6 (81.9 kg)
1/7- 180.6 (81.9 kg) Stepped on the scale and opened MFP for the first time in 6 months. Determined to start logging even if I go over calories just to get back in the habit.
1/8- 179.5 Yay water weight.
1/9- 178.9 More water weight.
1/10- 177.4 And more.
1/11- 176.7 (80.1 kg) Still more. Very encouraging though.
1/12- 176.8 Ate very light at work today planning to go to dinner tonight, but last minute decided to go out to lunch tomorrow with my sister instead. Now fighting the urge to mindlessly snack because I'm really hungry and tired.
1/13- 175.9 Ended yesterday under my calorie goal. Very tired of the negative degree weather. It was -14° F (-25.5° C) this morning and minus -23° F (- 31.66° C) with the windchill. I overate at lunch today, but ended just a couple hundred calories over the weekly goal. Tomorrow is a new day.
1/14- 176.8 Back on track today.
1/15- 178.3 Still tracking and happy with where I'm at. I had pasta for dinner tonight (within my calories) so we'll see if that sits heavier on the scale.
1/16-177.4 (80.5 kg) I'm happy with this. At calories for today. Looking forward to the next round. Just found out we're likely going to Moab in early April and I'd like to drop another 12.5 pounds by then.7 -
My Journey ~ round 3
Starting wt. 231lb. /Goal wt. 140lb. *** Ending wt. round 2 ✴224 lb.
My name is Karla, I'm 67 years young, married to my best friend, and I’m a soon-to-be-retired RN.
(Day 31) 01/07 ✴224 lb. ~ I stayed under my 1450 calorie goal, minimal exercise, and only 48oz water. It is better than yesterday, not as good as tomorrow.(Day 40) 01/16✴216.6 lb. ~Last post of this round. I did well today with eating but I’ve got to start moving…
(Day 32) 01/08 ✴224 lb. ~ I wish we could get a break in the weather; it’s rain, rain, and wind. My sister in Wyoming had 19 degrees – but it was sunny 😎! I’m not sure which I prefer. Hopefully, my scale will be here tomorrow. I weighed 4 times this morning and was 224, 227.9, 222.5, and 226.3. I don’t know what to believe. My waistline does feel smaller, but I’m not fitting into the next smaller size, Yet! I measure next weekend, and excitement abounds!
(Day 33) 01/09 ✴??? lb. ~I wish we could get a break in the weather; it’s rain, rain, and wind. It was 19 degrees where my sister lives (WY) – but it was sunny 😎!
(Day 34) 01/10 ✴223.2 lb. ~The scale arrived today, but not until late afternoon. I normally work from home but needed to go into the office this morning, so I took the opportunity to use the scale there. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully, something closer to 222.0. Other than that, I braved the wind and got my steps in between rainstorms. Yea! It will probably be an early night tonight; I want to put the ice machine on my knee to ease the pain.
(Day 35) 01/11✴222.2 lb. ~ Today went a bit better than anticipated. The lower wt. on the scale was a nice surprise. I did well with healthy eating and staying under calories. I am still resting my leg, doing ‘RICE,’ hoping for relief and that it will not sabotage the weight loss. I know how important exercise is to see results. Water is much better today, drinking it warm has helped. I’m 1 full month into this journey and have only dropped 10 lbs. For a heavy girl, I expected more than that. Yeesh!
(Day 36) 01/12✴221.6 lb. ~ Not much to say tonight. Busy, busy at work. I met the water & calorie goals. Exercise goal UGH!
(Day 37) 01/13✴219.1 lb. ~ A good day, I went over on calories, ate junk, and didn’t exercise. It is healthy to shock the body occasionally, so it doesn’t think it’s starving. We have ice on the windows from the freezing rain. Strange for here on the Oregon Coast. We get a rare snow, but these are the icicles hanging off everything. It is so beautiful, oh and did I say beautiful? I haven’t seen an ice storm since we lived in Colorado, or was it Ohio?
(Day 38) 01/14✴219.2 lb. ~ Well, I spent most of the day sitting and studying for my upcoming TNCC recertification. I did get up for a bit of basic housework and kitty playtime. Oh, and I did fit in an upper-body workout, the lower half is recovering. I need to lower my UGW to 140 to get my BMI in the healthy range. Oh, so much to think about, LOL!! 😂
(Day 39) 01/15✴216.6 lb. ~ Today is another day of wind, frozen trees, and frozen roads. Midday it started to thaw putting more ice on the roads as it re-froze midafternoon. I feel for all of you that live with this weather all winter. You are warriors! Healthwise I ate more and heavier food than I normally do. Hmmm, Am I preparing for hibernation? 😂 Not enough vegetables or fruit today though and I’m over on calories by 300 today. One important thing I have learned during this journey is; Alcohol is not a necessity. I am finding other beverages to drink for our afternoon social hour. I come from a family of alcoholism, so I have always been mindful of my intake and limited it. It wouldn’t take me much to go from social drinking to alcoholism. Especially when being bipolar is a trait of our family. Dang, these daily posts are turning into journaling.
Goals this Round:
Water 60oz+ each day ● Walking 30min 5 x a week ● Strength training 2 days a week ● Eating healthy, high protein & fiber, calorie limit of 1450.
🙂Whatever I am not changing, I am choosing.🙂5 -
36 YO – 5’6” stay at home mom to two little kids
About meI'm in this for a third go! I'm struggling with motivation at this point in the year, but the 10 day challenge definitely helped - hoping to keep logging, drink more water and keep getting in all of my vegetables! I work out plenty but I'm having an issue with staying below calories. Two small kids and a husband who are always snacking is not helping. I lost 20 lbs last year, have put 5 back on, and I don't want any more coming back! I'm finally down to where I was last year and am now hoping to lose 15 more this year, 143 here I come!

1/16 133.5 Down this round. I’m going to a non-sewing class today. Made tuna and egg salad for my lunch. I just hope no one brings goodies to share!
@quiltingjaine - what is a non-sewing class?
One of the ladies from my art quilt group (a former college instructor) did a technique class but the technique didn’t involve sewing as most regular quilt classes would. While she was showing some of her samples something clicked in my head 💡 and I realized I had taken an online class years ago that included this technique which this instructor called “sneaky little sheers.”

I have been out of town for 6 weeks and just got back yesterday. When I got home my common sense and discipline were just sitting there right where I left them. So I have a little bit of work to do.1 -
