Help me understand.

Totally new to this. I have no idea if what I’m doing is good or not I would like to lose 20lbs.

I work out pretty regularly it’s the diet that sets me back.

This is the first time I have ever really kept track of what I’m eating.

Am I doing it OK?? lol I have no idea if I’m still eating junk, I have upped my protein.

Thanks! BTW HEYYYY YALL FROM A NEWBIE

If your goal is to lose 20 pounds, the key is calories.

Twenty pounds isn't that much, so set your goal to lose about a half pound a week. That's a deficit of about 250 calories per day.

But first, if you've never tracked what you eat before, just spend a few weeks doing what you NORMALLY do but just track everything you eat or drink. After a few weeks, you can start to make adjustments to try to hit that 250 calorie per day estimate. Then over time you can find out if the estimate actually works for YOUR body. If not - adjust the goal.

Don't forget to eat back your exercise calories. If you have set your MFP goal to maintain your current weight, and if you ended the day with a 230 calorie deficit, you're actually on the way to losing a half pound a week. If you set your goal to lose weight, eat more.

If you are concerned whether you are eating “ junk” or not like you said, the MFP won’t tell you that. Your nutrient breakdown looks fine but depends on what all of your goals besides weight loss are. The best advice I have to eat less junk, is try to eat the whole food. I.e. food looks like its original state. Example eat piece of fruit not juice or fruit flavored yogurt. Eat corn not cornflakes. Limiting ultraprocessed foods can be a healthy choice in addition people typically eat fewer calories of Whole Foods than UPF.
Good luck! Do it for your health… you are worth it!
