Todd 140.6 @ 60

Hello, howdy doody, yup yup!
I did Ironman 140.6 "The Great Floridian" in my 40th year (2008). I promptly sold my 8K bike the following weekend. And decided to just be happy, work hard, and have a beer or tooooooo many most of the time ;)

Well, I have just returned from a physical, spiritual, and mental "retreat." A crazy trip to the FUNNY FARM in So.Cal.

The one thing, with all the counseling and diagnosis ramble ramble is there was a time when I had "FLOW."

Training was it! After 3-4 years of tracking and tracking, I did the 140.6! My best time was 12hr 27min 48sec.

I would have never been able to do it without all the forum support. I am back and I need ya.

Coming in at 250 with zero VO2

Hello, Todd at 250 with zero VO2 - sounds like you have a plan. Good show!

I know you don't have zero VO2 (if you can type, you're not dead yet ;) ), but I take your point. And this can absolutely improve. Training is great, but of course tri training is only one option among many. If that still feels right for you, go for it.

Without your athletic history - with essentially no athletic history TBH - I started being routinely active in my late 40s (after full-bore cancer treatment). I'm pretty sure that at your current age, you have tremendous athletic up-side, with a disciplined but gradual training plan.

I hope and assume you don't expect to be back at your former fitness level in an instant - that it will take some time and consistency, gradually re-building. I don't know about you, but as I age, I find that it's more important than ever to plan training sensibly and be disciplined about rest/recovery in that plan. Funny thing, I'm not as resilient in my 60s as I was at age 20! :D

You can do this - I'm cheering for you!
