Sodium / Salt query

Hi guys, just a quick question regarding sodium content in foods, how come every food I look at this is doesn’t show right for me. A lot are blank where people haven’t filled it in but there is others where it is always under what the packet says.

Am I right in thinking that if something says on the packet 0.6g salt that should show as 600mg of sodium or is there more too it than this?

Aaah right Thankyou so that would lead me to be wrong then (which I expected) so sodium should be approx 40% of what the packed says under salt content?

Yep, exactly. It's slightly confusing, and I think many users that add info are confused as well. It's totally possible to correct database entries, at least in the desktop version.

Well, most of the database entries are user sourced, and many users don't add this information. Salt = sodium + chloride. In some countries you find salt in nutritional info, in other sodium. In 1gr salt there are approximately 0.4g sodium and 0.6g chloride. Again, in some countries the info is given in mg and in others in g. So it really depends on whether the user added the info, and in what format it's provided in their country.
