Hey, does anyone have a suggestion for a sugar free syrup?

Depends what kind you’re looking for.

Chocolate- I order Hershey’s sugar free syrup online. Hands down the best.

Maple- There are several brands that are very good. I am partial to my local grocery brand- only 15 Calories for 2 tbsp which is pretty great. I have used Walden Farms which is ok but not nearly as great since they changed their formula. I haven’t tried Lakanto but heard good things.

Caramel- I am a big fan of Jordan’s Skinny Syrup, specifically the thicker caramel sauce-type. They also have thinner syrup types in about a hundred different flavors for coffee.

Soda syrups and toppings- Jordan’s wins again. I use their cocktail mixes and fruity syrups in soda water to make delicious mocktails and refreshing sodas.

I hope this answers your question!

@EliseTK1 said everything I could have said, right down to 😡 Walden Farms for changing their formulas.

The day I got a case of the new formula product was a black day indeed. We ended up giving it all away. Horrible.

Hersheys sugar free is the best tasting at 5 or 10 cal per serving.

If you really want zero cal, Jordan’s has a caramel and a chocolate expresso ”sauce”. They’re not as thick as the Hersheys, but great over ice cream, yogurt, frothed coffee milk etc.

Their “syrups” are much thinner. I bake with them, put them in drinks, sweeten our homemade ice creams with them. The most versatile is the Simple Syrup, which is sweet but otherwise no flavor. Their fruity syrups are good in sparkling water.

There are also some very good zero or ultra low calorie ketchups out there. The Kroger and Heinz have been good. We are on our very last bottle of Walden zero cal ketchup. I’m crossing my fingers they didn’t mess that one up, too, with a new formula.

If you ever want some fun reading, the Amazon and Vitacost reviews of Walden are a hoot. Walden took down all the hate reviews of the new formulas on their own website and only left the glowing ones. Ask me how I know…..😡

Way to go Walden. I used to buy your stuff by the case.

Anyway, you can also easily find Torani zero cal syrups at tJ Maxx, Marshall’s, World Market. I don’t care for the Torani. They have an unpleasant chemical taste to me. TJ has started carrying a new sugar free brand, but I haven’t experimented with it yet. I’ve got a shelf full of Jordans to use up.

My husband loves Turkey Hill diet blackberry tea, but it’s hard to find and expensive. I got a bottle of zero cal Monin blackberry syrup to make bulk tea for him and he’s liked that one. I haven’t tried it. It does smell like blackberries when I make his tea, which is impressive lol.

PS: for most people, tastebuds recognize the taste of cinnamon as being sweet.

You can add cinnamon to many foods or drinks and have a sweet effect without the use of artificial anything.

The most commonly sold cinnamon is Ceylon cinnamon.

It’s harder to find and slightly more expensive, but Vietnamese aka Saigon cinnamon is much richer and spicier tasting.

Amazon and Whole Foods carry the Frontier Coop brand Vietnamese cinnamon, which is absolutely outstanding. I buy a pound at a time and dispense it into an old shaker

Try brewing your coffee with a shake of cinnamon mixed into the ground beans. 👍🏻

Btw, excessive amounts of cinnamon can mess with blood thinners (I think that’s the one), but you’d have to really go overboard on cinnamon to reach that threshold. A couple shakes a day won’t even come close.

i found hershey's sugar free syrup on the sour side. my preferred chocolate syrup is davinci gourmet sugar free syrup, but i also like their toasted marshmallow syrup and their vanilla, as well as torani's vanilla. i don't care for all torani's flavors - some had a chemically flavor to me.

Hey, does anyone have a suggestion for a sugar free syrup?

    Depends.

If you mean like a diet pancake syrup? The Kroger Sugar Free Maple Syrup is the best tasting for the price. A little thinner than I like but it doesn't have a weird after taste. I tried a lot of brands when I still ate pancakes. A lot of people like the Log Cabin or Cary's...but I didn't. Kroger store brand had the best price for a decent taste.

If you mean just as a sweetener? There are syrups sweetened with Monk Fruit. For example, Lakanto Sugar Free Maple Syrup - Monk Fruit Sweetener. My keto friends like it--I haven't eaten it personally.

But if you just want a topping for pancakes, just puree some blueberries and heat them slightly in the microwave. Will make a warm fruit topping in mostly liquid form. Berries are lower sugar/calories than a lot of fruit.

Torani does a bunch of sugar-free syrups flavors for coffees. I have not tasted them though.
