Hi everyone,
I recently started tai chi at home. I'm overweight and have been sedentary since the pandemic. So sad. Is tai chi even beneficial enough for exercise?

Any exercise is beneficial for health, joints, muscles and for your heart. Overall, all exercises are not really useful for using weight. But if you enjoy doing tai chi then please continue as the benefits are huge for health!1

As a calorie-burner, likely not. But the proponents of tai chi will point to a host of other benefits.1

Yes, Tai Chi is beneficial. Any form of added movement is beneficial. My late husband was a Tai Chi teacher, and I did Tai Chi regularly for around 8 years myself. It helps improve joint mobility and balance - useful things - and can have other benefits as well.1
