1 Feb - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 2.00 miles - treadmill intervals
3.00/85.00 miles
I ran intervals on the treadmill early this morning before heading out for my day. I ran 5 min @ 4.5 mph, 6 x (1/2 min @ 6.0/4.0 mph), 3:03 min at 4.5 mph.7 -
A 5k to start the month. I felt great so am happy to announce I’m fully recovered (average heart rate is still about 8bpm above its usual, but the same as it was last week on the same run where I was 30 seconds per kilometre slower). I’ll try a long run tomorrow and see how that pans out.10

Morning all
Got in 4.6M (at 09"34).
Happy Friday!9 -
Sorry for not commenting as much as I should, likes and hugs given out where appropriate. My Feb goal is just to run regularly and not be in pain. Back is definitely on the mend though yoga is still problematic.
Still, the sun is shining, somewhere - keep going folks!9 -

I seem to be “in like” with just saying Injinji 😂
@shanaber and @quilteryoyo I too can’t stand anything between my toes and can’t wear flip flops or any sandals with straps between toes.. Didn’t think these Injinji socks would work for me either. But I realized last night when I posted my run here that I never felt the socks at all during my 3 miles yesterday. My toes must have felt fine because I even forgot I had the Injinji socks on. So, I’m now a believer and am there with @Teresa502 and @martaindale.
Welcome @emmamcgarity and @TheMrWobbly
@ContraryMaryMary glad to hear you feel better about your run and heart rate.
@SummerSkier, @kgirlhart and @tarun_yadavA nice runs!
Good work planning ahead @quilteryoyo and getting the mile at the start of the day. I think I could make more of an effort to register at least a mile per day of intentional walking. Fitbit clocked 113+ miles for me for January, but I officially only recorded less than 50 of intentional miles. You inspire me with all you have on your plate and with still looking after yourself to get something in each day.
@AlphaHowls as always, I’m amazed at your mileage and strength and endurance. Way to go!

No running today but I did ruck for 4 miles on the city streets at 5 am with 4 other friends. Happy Friday!9

01.02 6.5km 51min 7:50/km Goal pace repeats
02.02 6.4km 52min 8:08/km Slow
12.95km/103km 5.8km ahead
Very stormy weather made this very difficult. And I did something to my lungs during yesterday's run as my airways felt very uncomfortable thereafter. Today I could not breathe slowly at all. Means no running tomorrow.10 -
2/1 15.45 miles, Running Partner A, Leggings, coat, heated gloves...
2/2 15.42 miles in SHORTS!10 -

I actually feel the same way about sandals between my toes. I was skeptical about injinji but, like you said, I don't notice them at all. Glad they worked for you!
I'm enjoying the guinea pig antics @polskagirl01! Better than elf on the shelf for sure!5 -
Feb total: 4 miles
YTD: 107.2/1200 miles
2/1: 4 miles
I went to Pilates last night. That's 2 classes this week! I was still a little sore so it felt an extra bit harder. This morning I opted for a short run because I could tell my legs were tired.
The run was uneventful but nice enough. It has warmed up a bit so I actually had shorts on. Not a fan. Let's get back to 40's!!8 -

Was raining hard after work, but that's just as well. Did 5 TM miles while waiting for my new shoes to be delivered

I'm glad you are fully recovered @ContraryMaryMary !
Glad to see you @TheMrWobbly ! I'm glad your back is on the mend.
Thanks @daria0919 . I'm glad that the socks worked out so well for you.
That's great exercise, even if it wasn't running @Teresa502 .
Oh no @yirara . I hope the rest day is all you need to feel better.
Looking forward to the shoe porn @Scott6255 !
Great running and walking everyone. Just hugged and liked most of you tonight.

1 Feb - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 2.00 miles - treadmill intervals
2 Feb - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - treadmill
4.00/85.00 miles
I got up in time to walk one mile on the treadmill (all the time I had) before heading to work. I decided I should get it done early, since I didn't know what the day would bring.
I'm glad I did. See spoiler for my rollercoaster day if interested in non-running stuff.
I helped with health screenings at one of the local High Schools until about 2:30.
My cousin's niece had driven up from SC to see him. I was so surprised that she had decided to do that, since they hadn't seen each other in years either. Anyway, I was glad she did and asked her to let me know when she left his room and mom and I would meet them for a visit at Wendy's near my house (on their way to Gatlinburg for the weekend). She did and we had a really nice two hour visit - we hadn't seen her in years either.
When I got home, I had a message from Gary's nurse to call them back. I did and he informed me that Gary had passed away, at about 5 pm. Such a sad ending to what was a great day.13 -
Oh @quilteryoyo so sorry for your loss 😞2
-
Did my long run today - 12km in the forest. Weather varied between burning hot sunshine and surprisingly cold rain but it was enjoyable anyway. My heart rate was exactly where I wanted it to be but my pace was a bit slow - I think I’m a bit tired from yesterday‘s run and my fitness has obviously dropped thanks to missing three weeks running. Hopefully I’ll get back up quickly.
@quilteryoyo sorry to hear about your cousin. Death is always difficult even when it’s expected.7 -
February Running Goal: 13 runs, 40 miles
2.7 lbs. December weight loss (247.5 lbs -> 244.8 lbs)
I'm Chris; I moved to San Diego, California, in 2023. I've been on MFP since 2009, and during that time, I've had some wild swings in health and fitness. My fittest years were 2010 and 2019 when I did lots of food tracking, Iyengar yoga, and running. In 2023, I returned to running, and I'm sticking with it for 2024 too. Happily, in November 2023, I found an Iyengar yoga studio near my house, and I've been going to a weekly class there.
American's may remember the old "Better Living Through Chemistry" commercials from way back. In January my medical doctor prescribed a medication for obesity: Qsymia. I have it, and am ambivalent on whether I should try it or not.

I signed up for an April 2024 Half Marathon to keep as a North Star.
I'm not going to sign up for any other races. I'm focusing on dropping 2.7 lbs or more each month.
Please connect on Garmin if you have one.

@quilteryoyo So sorry to hear about Gary's passing. Big hugs to you.0

I will catch up on posts later but wanted to share this article about Matt Fitzgerald. I had no idea he had long Covid and was no longer able to run. Made me think of @polskagirl01!
It is a gift article so you all should be able to access without hitting a paywall.

Thanks @kgirlhart .
Thanks for sharing the article @shanaber . I had no idea either. Maybe that should be out MFP group meet up in real person - everyone go out for a week with Matt.
1 Feb - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 2.00 miles - treadmill intervals
2 Feb - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - treadmill
3 Feb - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - driveway laps
5.00/85.00 miles
It is really nice out today - sunny and 50F (10C). I had intended to wun a couple of miles, but as soon as I started walking, my HR jumped up to 129 and never went down. I ran a couple of the short downhills, but that's all - and interestingly enough, my HR went down when I was running. Anyway, I decided just one mile would be it today. I did check and Garmin was correct. I knew it was because I was huffing and puffing like I had been sprinting. And, I did a Kardia mobile EKG when I finished - tachycardia, but no AFib. I'm sure it's stress related. My avg HR was 134 with a max of 149 bpm.4 -
@quilteryoyo Sorry to hear about Gary. Its nice that his niece was able to see him.
@shanaber I had no idea he had long COVID. It's probably really hard for him but at the same time reassuring to hear that he has found a way to be happy.
@chris_in_cal I understand the ambivalence about taking a weight loss medication. I would be worried that I'd either have to stay on it forever or I'd end up gaining the weight back if I stopped taking it. You'll make the decision that's best for you.5 -
Feb total: 14.2 miles
YTD: 117.4/1200 miles
2/1: 4 miles
2/3: 10.2 miles
Long run in the rain today. It lightly sprinkled most of the run, which is the perfect type of rain for running. It makes a lovely pattering sound and keeps people indoors. The combo feels like a lovely cocoon.
I was supposed to go with my family to get haircuts this afternoon but just didn't have it in me. I desperately needed some time alone with nothing that had to be done. So I stayed behind and am enjoying the quiet.7
