MFP - Database variability and, presumably, incorrect data

How do you cope with the variability within the MFP database in order to get an accurate and correct food diary?
We eat a lot of chicken thigh (much better flavour than breast) but the variability in the data is noticeable. See picture below. Other foods can also be variable. Chicken breast appears to be better.

I pick an accurate one, referencing an outside authoritative source if necessary. After that, as long as I log it semi-regularly, it stays in my recent/frequent foods and comes up first when I log.
One possible authoritative source:
https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/
The database is crowd-sourced, i.e. entered by regular MFP users. That can be a good thing (lots of foods already entered in accurate detail) or not so go (too many inaccurate entries). It's easily cope-able in practice, in my experience.2
