Hello

Hi all. I've been using myfitnesspal for about 3 weeks now. I've extremely overweight (hate the word obese) hoping to lose 100lbs by next January. I have some issues I have to deal with, - age- 61, arthritis in knees - right one replaced 2 yrs ago, neuropathy in both feet, and COPD. I have to be picky about the exercises I can do due to limited mobility/flexibility. But I'm determined to do this. I think between this app and planet fitness I can do it. Staying positive and determined!

    Hello, Jill, and welcome!

I joined MFP at 59 with various health issues already in the picture, including arthritis, osteopenia, high blood pressure, high cholesterol/triglycerides, severe hypothyroidism (medicated for it), etc. I hadn't quite reached the point of needing knee replacements, but my orthopedist had told me that was in my future. I apologize if the word offends you, but I was technically class 1 obese.

I'm 68 now, at a healthy weight for 7+ years since loss. Arthritis pain is dramatically reduced in frequency/severity, blood pressure and lipids are solidly normal. I still haven't needed the knee replacement yet.

You're off to a good start with MFP and some manageably challenging exercise. Wishing you solid progress from here: With patience and persistence, small changes add up to a surprising set of benefits over time.

    Best wishes!
