Hi everyone. I’m back again. I have been using this app on again/off again for years. I always seem to fall off the wagon. Except this time, I need to stay on it. I’m getting older and health issues are peeking at me from around the corner. I have over 100 pounds to lose. It’s been a week and I’m doing well with my diary so far. My issue is being motivated to exercise.
Anyway, I would love to meet new friends to talk to and help motivate each other on our journeys. Feel free to add me as a friend.
In case no one has told you today, you are doing a great job! No one said the journey would be easy. Just that it would be worth it.

Welcome back!
It's a great idea to stick to it and not, as you say, fall back off the wagon. What are you going to do differently this time to make sure you keep sticking to it?0 -
It’s just going to happen, easy peasy. 😊Honestly, I can’t answer that. I don’t have the best track record. So far this time I am making smaller goals for myself. I am taking it day by day, instead of looking at the long term goal. I’m staying away from certain foods that I know will make me lose my motivation. I am trying to keep myself occupied so I don’t get bored and “hungry”.0

Welcome back. Smaller goals and focusing on healthy habit formation vs weight loss are great ways to find sustainable health. Since you mentioned exercise is a habit you’re looking for motivation to start forming, I thought I’d mention what’s helped me. In the past I’ve used couch to 5K or other race training programs (race being a loosely used term. I’m more of a walk/run event mentality than a “race” mentality) to get myself into a rhythm of exercise. Last year was not a year when I felt I could commit to any specific event, but I found a really great virtual walking challenge. It gave me the flexibility to set my own pace, but since it was a long distance (over 600 miles) I had to keep at it to get the periodic rewards the program sent. I liked it so much that I signed up for more and ended the year with just over 1000 miles of intentional walking completed. This year my mom is teaming up with me to walk the 2200 miles of Route 66 virtually. Since I live near one end and she lives near the other end of that route it’s a fun way to keep each other motivated to be intentional about taking some extra steps each day.
That might not be your cup of tea, but thought I’d mention it because it was so helpful for me. 10 months into this journey I have made walking such a habit that I start to get antsy and really miss my walk when I have a busy day that doesn’t accommodate it. The challenge is just a little extra incentive.1
