You currently cannot choose the exact start time of your day. In the MyFitnessPal app, we will pull your time zone directly from your mobile device (for web, we reference the time zone in your MyFitnessPal profile), and use that time zone to know when midnight hits. The day then rolls over to the next day at midnight in that time zone.

However, some features are linked to the time zone set within the profile (like Meal reminders), and some users may find it helpful to change your time zone to one that is more suitable to your schedule.

    To change your Time Zone:

    On the Web
Click "My Home" then "Settings" then "Change time zone".

In our iPhone and iPad apps
On the "Settings" screen tap "Profile" then scroll down to "Time Zone"

    In our Android app
On the "Settings" screen tap "Profile" then "Location"

    In our other mobile apps
On the "More" screen tap "Edit Profile" then scroll down to "Time Zone"

    Hope this helps!

You can track however you like, as long as you're consistent (and even then: you can look at your weekly intake instead of daily).

In the diary options, you can rename and add meals (max 6). In your case, it could be useful to just name them advising to the hours of the day, for example:
    - midnight to 4AM
    - 4AM to 8 AM
    - 8AM to noon
    - noon to 4PM
    - 4PM to 8PM
    - 8PM to midnight

Is there a way to change what time of day calories reset? Overnight workers having their counter reset at midnight can be tough.

I have this problem too. I imagine it would be easy to add a feature to let you change the time calories reset, even if it was just a slider that simply changed the time from midnight to noon. I'm sure there are plenty of people that both use the app AND work nights that it would be worth the effort to add.

FYI: you can always go back to the the previous day to log foods if you want to - when MFP switches to the next day, the previous days aren't locked or anything.
