Welcome!
Unfortunately, we can't target where we want to lose fat. What we can do is work to reduce overall fat, and it will at some point come off the place we want it to.
The main thing is to develop sensible habits and STICK TO THEM.

Some people need to completely cut out cheese, at least for a while. There was a while when I rarely bought it. Other people are able to enjoy the myriad of wonderful flavors of cheese while doing it in moderation. I am now, and I'm so glad. Most cheese is 120 calories per ounce, but some are as low as 70.
Cheese has healthy fat as well as protein.
Eating cheese or not eating cheese won't have any particular effect on where fat is stored or where it is metabolized from storage.0 -
Hello, and welcome to the MFP Community!
I'm with mtaratoot: Focus on achieving weight loss at a sensibly moderate rate, and belly fat will deplete on the schedule your body prioritizes.
Fat loss is about hitting the right calorie level on average for quite a period of time. (Good nutrition is important too, of course, but for health more than directly for weight loss.)
With a fat-loss goal, some kind of strength-challenging exercise may be helpful to ensure that as much as possible of the weight loss is fat loss, not loss of lean tissue (such as muscle). Weight lifting is the classic, but any activity that challenges current strength, done consistently, can be helpful.
Best wishes for success! You should cut out cheese.. absolutely helps
That's individual. I'm not doubting your word as it applies to you.
But I typically eat several servings of cheese daily (98 grams of it yesterday, higher than average but not off the charts for me). I lost weight fine (50ish pounds in under a year), maintain weight fine (7+ years at a healthy weight since loss). Some cheese can be calorie-dense, so logging cheese accurately is important.
Of course - as mtaratoot observed - if a person is unable to moderate cheese (if eating some triggers eating moreMoreMORE), then it may be necessary to cut it out at least for a while.
But if that's not the situation, I think eliminating cheese is going to be one of the many things that any given person will need to experiment with, to know whether it's necessary/helpful for them personally.
Wishing you continuing good results, too!
For me, cheese is so important to me that I probably would've failed out of weight loss if I'd had to eliminate it order to lose weight. Fortunately, for me, it wasn't necessary to stop eating it (and I can moderate it).1
