I'm not technically low carb, but have definitely lowered carbs as part of this journey. If that's an approach you'd like to take, I'd suggest focusing less on lowering carbs than on increasing other nutrients. I focus on getting >25g fiber and >100g protein per day while staying within my calorie target (1600 + exercise). That naturally shifts me to smaller portion sizes of high carb foods and finding versions of carbs that carry more fiber and protein.

    Reduced -
Drinks with added sugar (I eliminated, but reduction may be fine for some)
Portion size of breads/pastas and now pair with protein source
    Portion size of "sweet treats"

    Swaps -
    Brown rice vs white rice
High fiber wrap vs white flour tortilla
    Greek yogurt vs sour cream
Whole fruits vs juices or sweeteners
High protein pasta vs regular pasta
Veggies as main side vs starch as main side
Peanut butter protein powder vs peanut butter (reduces fat more than carbs, but helps my overall focus on protein and fiber)

If you're looking to do a formal low carb diet you may want to invest some time in researching what foods are recommended and which ones to avoid. If you're just looking for options that might work without as drastic a dietary change, you may find success with an approach similar to what I took. I'm 68lbs down since last April and it's been helpful for me to feel like I'm eating the same things as my family, just with a swap here and there or different portion size/proportions than they eat.
