Hey all,
My name is Shannon and I am in my first semester of college as a 31 year old! Getting used to the swing of things and I'm so dang busy! I also have 2 teenage boys (step children.) I was diagnosed with prediabetes recently so that is my main reason for coming to MFP, although I used it years ago too.
Honestly just looking for a little support here.
I am watching carbs, protein, fiber, sodium and saturated fat as directed by my dietician and I'm trying to fit in a 15 minute walk daily, I am sure that I have the time but the motivation is what I lack.

Welcome!
It's great that you have access to a dietician. They are the right professional to help you eat the best for your individual situation.
MyFitnessPal can help a whole lot too.
Motivation won't help you at all. It will leave you cold in a dark alley. Instead you might focus on building good habits that you can continue indefinitely. Many things in life aren't things we love even though we do them. I bet there are days you aren't motivated to go to class or do your reading assignment. But you do. Because it's important. Eating the right amount of the right food is too!
Stick to it is the best advice.2 -

Welcome, Shannon!
I'm with mtaratoot, finding and practicing new, practical habits makes much more impact than some abstract "motivation". (Honestly, the process was easier than I expected, once I committed to it.)
It's getting small in the rear-view mirror (as I'm now 68), but I went back to college (to work on a masters degree) in my 30s . . . daunting at first, but actually quite fun once I shook the dust off my study and test-taking habits. I hope it will work out to be very life-enhancing for you, too.
Personally, I'm weak in willpower, motivation AND discipline (as a hedonistic aging hippie flake, pretty much), but I found a route to my goals here. From the little biography you gave us, I'm pretty sure your discipline muscles are stronger than mine. I think you can rock this!
Wishing you excellent results: IME the payoff is very much worth the effort.0
