Hi! I saw it's been awhile since anyone posted about the migraine elimination diet. I'm just starting the diet and still having issues avoiding migraine trigger foods with shared dinners with my husband. I'm trying to educate on what to avoid but he eats it all on a regular basis. It's easier to follow the diet for breakfast and lunch that I can do on my own.
If you are interested in sharing your journey with the migraine diet, feel free to add me as a friend. I share my meals with friends so you can see what I eat and occasionally I post pictures in my adventures in fresh foods and whole grains.

The Dizzy Cook introduced me to the Heal your Headache diet and book. It's essentially fresh foods (fruits, veggies, meats, cheeses, and dairy). But eliminating foods with tyramine (aged or fermented foods) or histamine (citrus, nuts, aged cheese). You really have to review the diet in detail to understand what foods are common migraine triggers. As there are certain fresh foods that are triggers like pineapple. And some deserts like caramel and white chocolate are ok but the rest of different chocolates are triggers.
The point of the diet is to commit to eliminating migraine trigger foods for four months. Then reintroducing the foods you miss the most, one week at a time to see if they are a trigger. Some people find they have no food triggers. For some, it really helps pinpoint exactly what is constantly making them sick.
I felt really good the first few days of starting the diet. Then my husband wanted to make Alfredo Sausage ravioli that we bought the ingredients before I started the diet. I thought one cheat meal wouldn't hurt but I woke up in so much pain that I had to use a PTO day. So for me, I'm going to keep trying to stick to the diet. Tasty food is not worth a migraine.
