I'm a newbie here! I'm 67 and trying to slow the clock down on my body. I was 2 years ago in shape and doing HIIT 3 days a week. Due to knee replacement and have slowed down and the weight has caught up to me! Look My forward to being held accountable, encouragement and just meet up with people struggling to stay active like me!

Hello, and welcome to the MFP Community!

I'm sure your active history will give you a leg up (pun intended) on fully restoring your fitness level. I'm 68, active and in long term maintenance now (loss was 2015-16), with knee surgery somewhere in my future according to my orthopedist (not essential or scheduled quite as yet), so I feel what you're saying here for sure!

I've had some shorter bouts of enforced activity reduction from other surgeries, illness, or injury, though. The big temptation (risk) for me is wanting to get back to the previous performance level quickly, when gradual progress is likely to be a less risky path. I don't know about you, but I find I de-train a little faster than when I was young, regain fitness a little slower, and am slightly more easily injured, so patient progress is a good plan for me (but difficult to stick with!).

I feel grateful that calorie counting with MFP has been a good tool for me, so far making it possible to stay at a healthy weight even in periods of reduced activity. I hope it works out well for you.

    Wishing you success!
