Am I doing enough exercise?

I'm a 19 year old female, approx. 5 ft 6 and 55kg. I'm hoping to lose about 7kg by mid Dec so I can start fitting into my clothes again lol!
I've only become really dedicated to my weight loss about a week and a half ago, and I'm just wondering if I'm on track so far.
I'm eating around 1,200 calories a day which means I should lose about 0.68kg a week, apparently.
I've lived a very, very unactive lifestyle until now and I'm hoping to increase my fitness level. I'm not a fitness freak or anything but I'd like to be healthier. I've been using my stationary exercise bike for 30 mins 6 days a week. A light to moderate effort burns about 139 calories. Is this enough exercise or should I be doing more? At this stage I'm not fit at all so I'm finding exercise pretty tiring!

You don't actually need to do any exercise to lose weight. Exercising is good for your health and means you can eat more and still maintain a deficit, but it's not necessary. Try to make sure that you're eating at least some of your exercise calories back, so your body is getting enough fuel. Some exercise is always better than none, and your fitness will improve with time0

Aha, this is good to hear for me as well! Exercising can be a drag for those of us who aren't accustomed to it. Now I don't feel as pressured, but that doesn't mean I'll be canceling my gym membership.
Thanks Snazzy, keep at it Dangle!0 -
How many pounds is 55kg? If what I'm thinking is correct, at your height, you really don't need to lose anything! You would be better off to focus on living a healthy, active lifestyle rather than losing weight0

its about 121lbs
and you are correct... she really doesn't need to lose any weight for her height
48kg (105lbs) for someone who is really too light for someone who is 5'6
I'm 5'2 and my healthy goal weight is 60kg... lightest 58kg.
I would just focus on being healthy also 1200 cal is too low. you should aim for around at least 1500
good luck0 -
I'm never usually so opinionated/jjudgemental but you're going to be a bag of bones. We're the same height and aat 60kg I'm a size 8, you won't even get clothes to fit you at 48kg. Please rethink this, you're going to make yourself very ill.0

Okay so my thought process was on the right track. Sweetie you really don't need to be losing at all!
IMO you need to eat the food....all of the nutritious, delicious food and find activity that you enjoy doing and just DO IT! Focus on being fit and healthy and strong, not what the number on the scale says!
Good luck to you :happy:0
