My name is Lisa I've just joined My Fitness Pal. It was advised to sign up by my on-line fitness coach, who will be guiding me through my weight loss journey over the next 52 weeks. I'm 61 years old 5 foot four inches and 203 pounds. I've gone up and down in weight my entire adult life. I've been as low as 110 (and 17 percent bodyfat), now I'm at my all-time high. Nervous but excited about my upcoming journey. I hope this website will be helpful. Thanks all.

Hi Lisa! I'm Lisa too! I'm a petite woman who has lost 47 pounds in 4 1/2 months on my own. I was a runner/ dancer in shape my whole life until I got married and started my new career. In my blissful happiness I gained 62 pounds and was miserable. I decided to take my control back and my life. I have 18 more pounds to go! Wish me luck!2

Hi, Lisa! I started here at 5'5", 183 pounds, age 59. In a bit under a year, I reached a healthy weight, and have been at a healthy weight for around 8 years since, now age 68. (I was at 133 pounds this morning.) Calorie counting with MFP has been the perfect tool for me.
I hope your on-line fitness coach has you aiming at a sensibly moderate pace (0.5-1% of current body weight per week, maximum) and learning new habits you can continue happily forever to stay at a healthy weight. Extreme calorie restrictions for fast loss can increase health risks, and be counterproductive in other ways (appetite spikes, fatigue, etc.)
Wishing you success!1 -
Thanks guys!! Your stories are very inspiring! Great to meet you!
Ann, my fitness couch is helping me build new habits slowly. She started me off by increasing my water intake. I'm drinking two quarts a day at present. Step two, I'm supposed to track my food for a few days.
It's a lot easier than I thought and helps me to avoid randomly eating unhealthy stuff. Soon she should be giving me suggestions on how to tweak my eating to get the results I'm hoping for (one pound a week, tops). I'm really more interested in losing inches and bodyfat percentage than pounds on the scale.2 -

That sounds perfect. Go, you!1 -
Lisa, good luck at tackling those last 18 pounds! You've come a long way, you're in the home stretch!
I'm rooting for you!0
