I have been sticking to my 1500 cal diet , swimming 60/70 laps every other day and steadily losing 2lb a week, now i have hit pms time ( i get about 14 days of it) and my weight has increased by 3lbs, and i have another week to go......:ohwell: i know people are going to say we all gain some water during this time, but im feeling completely deflated! well deflated would be good as then i would be losing weight!!!!!
i have been taking raspberry leaf capsules to help the water and have started taking help oil to combat the pms yoyo moods, my question is this:
How much does everyone else gain during this time?
many thanks

I gain anything up to 3lb too. What bugs me more than the actual weight gain is the dreaded bloat. I swear I can gain a size! Since starting to exercise and eat more healthily though I have noticed the last time I was less bloated than usual. I did used to drink copious amounts of cola though and have cut right back on that and switched it for water so perhaps that's what did it for me.0

My weight doesn't really change on my TOM but I do feel bloated. That and the cravings the week before are terrible but on the days when I'm on I am fine. Glad it only lasts 2days for me!0

I get cravings too, cravings for chocolate (which I hardly eat at all normally) and bread, for some reason my body just wants/needs/craves lots of bread! I'm finding it hard to not give into those cravings.0 -
I get very bloated, I mean I look 8 months pregnant during the TOM but since I started working out in July I haven't gained any weight during my weigh ins. I just lose as much as the other weeks. I had TOM twice in August and it was on last week n I lost almost 4lbs. But I worked out everyday during August so that could be why.0

3-4lbs is quite common for me. I'm having my TOM right now, but I've been losing about 100 grams in weight a day for the last 2 days. Admittedly I didn't eat that much because I'm just not very hungry during, but I've been drinking 10-12 cups of water a day too. If you haven't, try drinking more?
All I can say is that you shouldn't feel deflated or discouraged. Your weight can fluctuate so much that one week you may not lose an ounce, but two weeks after that you've suddenly dropped 3lbs in under a week. Your body is not a steady machine that always consumes a specific, solid, unchanging x calories a day. One day it uses more, one day less, some weeks it might be completely off.
What's important is the long-term downward trend. As long as you lose a little bit every month, you're doing great! Remember that the faster you lose the weight, the easier it'll come back. Slow and steady does win the race here.0 -

TOM - time of month
I gain anywhere from 3-5lbs. In fact I am up 3lbs from Monday thanks to this lovely time of month!!!0 -
These questions always amaze me. Does no one notice they feel bloated, gain a bit of weight etc until they decide to diet? In all the years you had your period before you started dieting and weighing yourself you never noticed this before?0

of course i noticed i bloated, but having never weighed myself i really didnt give much thought to the weight gain......my post was more about frustration and finding out other people's averages for weight gain , feeling deflated as i do, posting this and getting replies from other women has made me feel better....sometimes knowing other people are in the same boat is more helpful than anything else!!!!!:happy:0
