Sweet cravings

Hi all, I never had a sweet tooth but lately I have started to crave something sweet. I have been doing quite a lot of diy around the house and find especially after I want sugar. Has anyone found a way to suppress this or stop the craving.

Making it a point to eat several servings of whole fruit daily helped reduce my cravings for less nutrient-dense sweets like baked goods or candy. That won't work for everyone, but others here have said a similar thing. It might be worth a try . . . unless you're doing low carb or keto, in which case it might be hard to fit into your carb allowance.

If you've increased your activity level (via the DIY stuff), you might simply need more calories than you needed without that in the picture.

Undereating, over-exercise, increased activity, sub-ideal nutrition, poor sleep quality/quantity, increased stress: Any of that (and more) can increase fatigue. Fatigue frequently will express itself as cravings for sweets, because the body wants energy and sugars are quick energy. If you can identify a root cause for the increased cravings, addressing that cause can be a good route.

    Best wishes!

I agree with Ann, Shane, I would bump your calories up a bit, especially on the days where you are doing heavy activity. For myself, I find that when my carbs are too low for my activity on a given day, I crave sweets, especially candy which I normally don't crave. If you are doing low carb/keto, increase your calories in general.
