    Successes:
    eating at maintenance & occasionally below
    Exercise is a priority & is happening
    Food quality is vastly improved
    No eating out (my Achilles heel)

    Struggles:
    Cravings/mouth hunger/wanting the “fun” of eating out
    Rt foot pain makes walking less enjoyable/sometimes curtails the length of walk I’d love to take. Ditto hip as it heals
    Just getting back in the true Dieting Mode after a long time
    Have not successfully succeeded in achieving a true calorie deficit (but I have achieved the maintenance level.) so no longer gaining 2.5 lbs per month. Baby steps

    My MOTIVATION: our only son & wife are expecting our grandson in September!!
    I’d like to lose pounds so I am more comfortable carrying him etc. Ideally I’d like to lose 2lbs per month for 5 months.

    I last posted here Aug 2023 when I was with my dad in hospital & then visiting him 1-3 times a day in a horrific rehab place. Then family stress as I got him moved out of dysfunctional home situation to “great place” where he fell twice & then really badly later in the year. I finally passed the baton to a sibling as my stress level was impacting my disastrous food choices (trying to reduce stress & feeling happier by eating high fat/sugar)

    I have always shared here that I place my Health First but trying to keep my dad safe overcame that.

    I also had a foot issue that took 4 months to see podiatrist & get an orthotic made. That didn’t help
    At all.

    Got back in track in January & fell, breaking my femur near hip mid Jan. Surgery PT OT Pain.

    Now about 10 weeks on I can walk with a bit of cane support & sometimes without it.

    Success/Struggle: My weight was (according to my scale) at my goal weight exactly 5 days last week. Not .1 or .2 but .0. Today it was up .9. I don't trust the scale but it gives me focus and it shows if I'm in the ballpark or if I need to change something.

    Struggles
    Longterm Rt foot pain makes walking less enjoyable/sometimes curtails the length of walk I’d love to take. Ditto longterm left ankle. Both reappeared with longer & faster walking as I recovered

    Just getting back in the true Dieting Mode after a long time. Still not there.4/8

    Success/Struggle: My weight has been exactly the same all week. It might be my scale but I just weighed myself with jeans and shoes and it was almost 2 lbs heavier so for now, I will believe the scale.

    Family came to visit for a couple of days. We had lunch in a burger place on Friday, I had a chicken burger without chips (fries) and granddaughter made delicious pastry tart for tea. No easter eggs.

    Successes/struggles of the week: Had a long weekend helping out at my side job. Usually it's 3-4 hours, but there was an event so it was 8 hours. Most of it was standing, though I sat down a bit during the second half.
