So today I went swimming with my son. Usually we go for about 6 hours but were both really tired and swam for about an hour and then came home.

While there we pulled ourselves around the shallow end of the pool the whole perimiter. I don't know the distance but it took awhile. It is an outdour wading pool that is about chest deep in the middle. I estimated the swim time at a leisure pace for an hour.

However, I had a really bad day food wise. Usually we pack sandwiches on kaisers. I bought multigrain for myself to be a little healthier. Last time, I packed too much food and we didn't each it, so this time I only packed 1 sandwich each and a fruit wedge. We were both hungry so we cam home. On the way home I had a junior chicken sandwich with extra mayo, and a coffee from Tim's!!! Then a few hours later, a can of pop. Then dinner. I am out of control today!!!! Not good on the calories or the fat   :blushing: :frown:

Good News - I lost 1 inch so far off my waist!!! :drinker:

I feel so bad, I have had a few bad days when I had some chips or something but today I had A LOT of bad things.

Should I eat less tomorrow to make up for today? Usually I am about 400 cal or so under my daily goal. So far I have lost 11 lbs, about 1/2 that was probably water weight.

I don't think you should eat less tomorrow to try to make up for today, because you may very well end up in the same spot you did today...hungry and ready to eat whatever is there. Just get back on track as usual tomorrow. One day of slip ups won't hurt too bad.

I'm no expert for sure but just speaking from my own experience I have found that as long as I don't make a habit of having bad days that one "really bad" day doesn't usually derail my whole week's efforts. I would probaby try to drink lots of water to flush out any extra sodium that you may have taken in today & maybe some extra exercise thru out the week. But I know for me if I try to cut calories elsewhere the rest of the week I just end up being hungry and giving in later to something else I shouldn't have. Of course everyone is different and like I said I'm just speaking for what I know works for me. Just don't be too hard on yourself and move on! Good luck!!!

Won't be the last bad day either. Just remember what you did wrong and move on.

You will be fine. This one day isn't going to ruin the work you've done. You could drink some more water and eat fruits and vegis for snacks but I wouldn't over do it on eating less to make up for this day.

Don't worry about it too much.. every weekend I eat my face off but then fix the damage by working out lots and eating good during the week. I am just maintaining right now, so if you just work out maybe an extra 30 min tomorrow and drink lots of water.. I wouldn't recomend doing this often though.

Today is today, tomorrow is tomorrow. Don't get them confused and don't try to combine them. As the others have said, don't change your daily eating habits because you had one bad day. Should you eat too few tomorrow, you would be telling your metabolism to slow down because you aren't taking in enough food, then you'd be in a deeper hole. Remember what Turtle said, "slow and steady wins the race."

You can also make today be your free - if you don't have a free day already (eat what you want and not worry too much about calories). It's good to have one day a week to get what your body is craving. If we don't listen to our cravings - one day you'll snap and eat whatever is in site and more of it! (watched it on the Doctors)

Tomorrow is a new day! Don't worry about too much.

Wednesday I went out to eat w/ my husband on a dinner date - wasn't on a free day so I went over my calories by 900 calories (had a big breakfast) but hey I enjoyed my meal & got to spend time with the hubs. =)

Just work out harder tomorrow. We all have slip ups, the important thing is to get back on track and continue moving forward. If you dwell on it, you might just want to give up. Just brush yourself off and keep going! Congrats on losing one inch!! That's wonderful!!!

I wouldn't freak out about it. Just work out super hard tomorrow and then count today as your cheat day for the week. Plus with you adding more calories your body wasnt expecting it to where it will boost your metabolism!

Thanks all!! You are right! It hasn't been my first bad day. Tomorrow I will just eat as normal as I am usually under my cals anyway and maybe do a bit extra excercise tonight before bed and plan on going swimming more this week too!! So that will help.

I don't usually have a cheat day, but have take out about every 10 days or so. But have only been getting a burger instead of burger and fries!! So that's half cals saved right there.

So I guess I could look at this as my cheat day.

Lesson learned -- be prepared next time when going to the beach!! Take more food, more fruit and veggies is better than not enough food that I pig out when I get home!!

    Thanks all!!
