Hi, I’m Louise. This is my first time participating in this challenge. I could really use the accountability. This is the heaviest I’ve ever been, and I’m looking to find ways to get motivated to becoming a healthier version of myself.

APRIL 1st SW: 198.2 | EW: 000.0
Since starting ...January 1st - April 1st, I've lost 17 pounds and a total of 20.8 inches from 11 areas. 🥳 Thrilled to see my hard work reversing prediabetes and years of physical damage. Getting leaner and stronger and chair dancing proud of myself about it!! 57 and hormonal, it's taken longer than expected and a much rougher road than my youth.
Reaching onederland (March 13th) meant the end of 10+ years and up to 80 pounds!! gained and relost too many times to count. Determined not to self-sabotage ... have to ask: now what? Weight was my focus so long, I need a new target!! If I should lose an additional 8% body fat to reach the "standard" for my age, height and sex ~ and up to 15% to reach excellent ~ that's @ least another 8-15 months of work before I can begin to relax and think maintenance.
I've been eating @ a 200-400 calorie deficit (90-95% of the time) and Intermittent Fasting 18-22 hrs (75-85%). It's worked well, so trying to take it up a notch by lowering carbs, changing eating window to earlier in the day, breaking fast differently, and continuing to look for new ways to increase step count and add more strength in April.7 -

Another term for decade? I had to look it up, because I too, was stumped…
Math: “Increment of 10”
“Decade” is easier! 😎7 -
You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better than you were before

4/17 - 149.9 - Busy with work and completely forgot to check in and post! Oops. Doing pretty well so far. BF skipped out on the gym this morning but I went and had a really good back&shoulders day by myself. I'm suuuuuper duper sore in my legs from Monday so I think I'm holding on to a little weight from DOMS. I just got my 2 new recipe books in, both Paleo (Well Fed and Well Fed 2). Meals planned out for today and feeling capable. Hopefully work is productive but not overly stressful. Yesterday was a good balance and I'd be okay with that again.

4/16 I COMPLETELY forgot to weigh myself this morning, so I'm assuming it's still 216 give or take, whoops. I'm going to try to get a little more hydrated today, I was so good about that in my early 20s and I miss the way that made my vocal chords feel.
4/17 I thought about remembering to weigh myself, and I didn't. I did hydrate better yesterday and went to IHOP to celebrate the Sonic collaboration with friends. We're going again Friday because some people couldn't make it. Today's goal: continue regular calorie deficit, no playing catch up. TOMORROW'S goal... get up earlier and weigh myself, lmao.

I'm Crystal! I am aiming for 1200 calories/day, less than 90 carbs and low sugar. Recently added more protein to my diet and walking on most days.

4/16 172 Light eating day yesterday, I just didn't have much of an appetite. Looking at the dates of this round reminded me that my youngest boy's birthday is next week (the 24th). He'll be 6. He is the happiest and sweetest little boy and he brings such joy to everyone ❤️.
4/17 170.2 I was waiting for a drop. I could tell my body has been holding on to water. Also have barely had an appetite for 2 days, so I was a good bit under on calories both days (not complaining about that 🤪). Weight will probably go up a little when I'm eating back to normal.

I ate a lot yesterday, mostly healthy food, just too much. I’m not worried about the uptick. We have another gorgeous day, with rain forecast this evening and tomorrow, so I’m planning more garden infrastructure work today again. It’s good exercise, with a bigger purpose. 😊

Rainy day, so I’m off to knit for a while with a friend. Always fun to knit in company and talk and laugh. She usually feeds my lunch when I do, but I’m taking a curried pineapple chicken salad this time. Yummy!

@pettycoatjunction Thanks for the welcome! Aren’t we having lovely weather in Oregon this week? So thankful to see the 🌞
@CamandJarvis I love the Well Fed cookbooks! My all time fave recipe of hers is Chocolate Chili! So yummy!
I am totally new to MFP community. A few questions; it seems there is no way to comment on each other’s posts? Just the icons and the bottom (hug, like, etc)?
Is there a place in my app that shows that someone has tagged me in a post (like I tagged the two people above)? I didn’t see an alert that @pettycoatjunction tagged me, just read it in the feed.
Is this a group? Right now I have it bookmarked and that’s how I find it.
Thanks for your help!3 -

04/15 …..182.4….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
04/16 -182.4- (Trend weight 181.8) This month is horrid. It is FILLED with travel which really hurts my bottom line for all the normal reasons (restaurant foods and sitting, sitting, sitting). Last week’s travel killed my progress and sent me spiraling backward and this upcoming week’s travel is even further, longer and worse. Let’s just hope I get a good report from the Cancer Center at the University Hospital as something suspicious is being reinvestigated later this week. It’s been a long 6 months waiting for them to re-test and compare. As many of you know, I am already a cancer patient in remission. I appreciate all the prayers.
04/17 -182.8- (Trend weight 182.0) I am still creeping up. Could it be stress? It just feels like sheer unadulterated and constant hunger. I am choosing the same meals I always do but they no longer satisfy. I’m lost. Foot is a little better but swells back up easily with the least amount of overdoing it. Today I travel to the new eye doctor. Diabetic testing and new glasses. It will be nice to be able to see again. It took me a minute to find a doctor who takes my vision insurance. Of course there is no eye doctor in our little rural town. Dinner and shopping afterward. The scale will not be my friend this week. I just have to try not to tick it off too very much.

The only way I’m know of to reply to a specific post is to use “quote” and then delete the parts of the message that don’t apply. Right now my phone is being stubborn and thinks it knows better than I do what I’m trying to say!
I hope that helps. 😁3 -

2. Get a walk in every day
3. Drink water
4. Stay positive
5. Remember, the tortoise wins the race
4/16 204.0 Good start and now to keep it moving. I've had a cold the last few days and haven't felt like doing much exercising not that I do much anyway. But we had started walking once a day around the area lake. Today it's been raining off and on so I don't know if we will get that walk in or not. I did get a new food journal which I really like.
4/17 203.6 I wasn’t sure about any loss today. Last night we ate at Cracker Barrel but I had the grilled trout, cooked baby carrots, fried apples and one and a half biscuits. I was worried the bread would do me in, I’ve not had very much bread at all this past month. Also had a very short walk last night but it was something.

@deepwoodslady So…..
You know my WOE is “MAD” (Mostly Animal Diet) because vegetables wreak havoc on my digestive system. I’ve learned to eat mostly animal proteins, animal fats, eggs, and hard cheeses. An occasional high protein Greek yogurt… and avocados. I don’t eat any wheat, oat, barley or rye, because my mother had celiac’s disease, so I followed her WOE playing it safe… When I switched to this WOE I sincerely rarely get hungry. I think it’s not so much what I eat per se it’s what I DONT eat. I have given up processed foods - I only eat clean Whole Foods. no chemicals no preservatives. Of course, I’m not perfect. And everyone is different… The biggest change for me was giving up processed foods, preservatives and SEED OILS. Whole Foods only. I have read that processed carbs can actually MAKE you hungry… I encourage you to continuously do your own research and find what works for you… I understand that you are under medical supervision and are in remission… often, our doctors are NOT familiar with the latest nutrition research. Their job is to KEEP YOU AS A PATIENT. There, I said it! Im sharing from a place of sincerest caring and hope! I’m not a nut job. I’ve just done enough research to not trust the FDA. I know you will find your answers! 🤗🤗🤗6 -
@Chapter_3 When I started low carb I started reading books by Jason Fung, MD. He’s a nephrologist with many diabetic patients with failing kidneys. He stresses using a ketogenic diet. Unfortunately, doctors are resistant to accepting “new” ideas.5

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

4/16 134.0 Finally dropped a bit and DH set up dinner date at Golden Corral 🤦♀️🤦♀️ I have a plan since we are going later so friends can get butterfly shrimp. I will get salad and steak and see what good veggies they have. I can do this! OY! This morning has been a mess. Now to finish reading today’s posts.
4/17 136.5 I only ate one meal yesterday. That was at GC. I really didn’t eat a lot of food but it was high carb-breaded shrimp and Nashville Chicken Bites, sugar free vanilla cake and the blueberry filling from a slice of SF blueberry pie, at a 2” square of real crust from “apple cobbler.” I also drank a lot of water after we got home. I feel bloated-something I don’t experience often. Optometrist today so I can replace the glasses that broke when I fell in Ensenada. Tonight is community bingo with pizza for dinner.🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
**I posted a reply to @Garbagegang and then got kicked out of MFP. It says it can’t connect to the server. Must be their server because I can get everywhere else.4 -
@quiltingjaine i couldn’t use the food logging today midday but asked AI to see if others were having issues. The website was down for maintenance for a bit.4
