Looking for an app for leftover macros

I'm counting macros and often find myself with leftover protein, fat and carb grams that I need to use up. I would love to be able to plug that info into an app that would then give me suggested meals or snacks that could use up those macros. I've tried looking in the Play Store on my phone for such an app with no luck, but I thought this may be a good place to post about this in case anyone out there knows of such a thing. TIA

You posted this in multiple discussion areas. It's courteous to just pick the one that fits the best.

I think most likely it will be an "expert system" where you start to gain knowledge of what the macros of different types of foods are in general and pick among them to get close.

Why are you counting macros? Try to hit your protein goal. Get enough good fats. Don't worry about the carbs unless you're trying to limit them in which case.... limit them.

    Good advice from Mr. Taratoot.

I'd add: Close, on average over a few days, is just fine. If you're a little over on something one day(-ish), and a little under on that the next(-ish), averaging approximately around your goal plus or minus a little . . . that's A-OK. If you're persistently very low on protein or fats most days, work on bumping that up.

Even then, it doesn't have to be perfected instantly. You can chip away at improvements gradually, revising your routine eating habits to line up with your goals.

This isn't some kind of magic spell where every syllable (macro) needs to be precisely correct or bad mojo will happen. Pretty close on average will work.

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't sure which board was appropriate, this one or the food and nutrition one which is why I posted both places. I'm learning a lot since I've started paying attention to my protein grams. My daughter and I are doing this together. We are trying to stay + or - 5 in our ranges. Calorie counting just wasn't working for me anymore so I thought I'd give macro counting a try. Since getting older (age (61) and being put on certain medications seem to make what I've done in the past no longer effective.

To the bolded: It's OK to pick just one, and don't take Taratoot's advice as a major slap on the hand. Most of the people who make a hobby of reading/answering posts to try to help are people who read most or all of the categories, and will answer no matter where you post, as long as it's semi-close.

Sometimes people post "starting my diet" questions in the "maintaining weight" section, Non-exercise-related food question in the "fitness and exercise" section, and more. Generally, if folks think their question is answerable. Once in a while, they might get a "you might get better answers in X area" reply, but that's usually only if the area they post in is a lower-activity zone with one narrow focus, and they post a question with a completely different narrow focus.

When there's a cross-post sometimes we don't notice and answer both, which isn't terribly functional for either the person who posted or the person who replied. :D

I'm happy to hear that you're learning some useful things here. Hang in with it, keep experimenting until you figure out your best personal formula (because personalization can be important), and you'll find success. Only giving up leads nowhere.

    Best wishes!
