Hello. I'm new to MFP and I'm wondering if there's a way to search for foods and their calories without having to add it to my diary. So far it's the only way I can see to do it. Thanks!

Yep. Go the FOOD tab, then you'll automatically be in your food diary. If you click Database along the top you can search food without adding it to your diary.0

When you search for foods, you usually get a list of things that comes up on the left. Once you click on the item in the list that comes up, the box to the right of that fills in with the serving size info. Just under the name of the food is a hyperlink for nutritonal information - click on that and a pop up box comes up showing the amount of calories, etc per serving.0
