For foods labeled in the United States, your Daily Value percentages have been based on a "2,000 calorie diet for a healthy adult." These percentages were recommended by the USDA- They have a great resource page which explains the breakdown. You can find that information here:

    https://dsld.od.nih.gov/daily-values
    https://www.fda.gov/media/99069/download (nutrients by g/mg/mcg)

If you'd like to read more about the percentage breakdowns, please see: http://www.fda.gov/Food/IngredientsPackagingLabeling/LabelingNutrition/ucm274593.htm#see6

Currently, the 100% value from the USDA Food Labels translates as follows in MyFitnessPal:
    Vitamin A: 5,000 IU
    Vitamin C: 60mg
    Calcium: 1000mg
    Iron: 18mg

You may also review some recent changes to the nutritional goals we assign to your profile here:

Please remember this is based from a "2,000 calorie diet for a healthy adult." Your best recommendation is to consult with a doctor or nutritionist to find the values that work best for you.

If you know your daily needs are higher than the recommended value presented on standard food labels, or those recommended by our program, you can adjust your goal to a different percentage than "100%" of the recommended value.

To customize your targets, log into your account on our website at http://www.myfitnesspal.com. Sign into the members log in area by clicking the blue "login" link, using the same log in information you use to log into the app. Once you've logged in, go to "My Home", then "Goals", then hit the "Edit" button next to Daily Nutrition Goals. You'll be taken to a page where you can set your own targets for all of the nutrients we track.

Once you've saved your changes, those same changes will appear in the app the next time the app syncs to the website - this should happen automatically with a valid internet connection.
