    I totally heard that in a little whiny voice (the request for links). I'd "heard" about potatoes and burnt meat, but never looked into it.

    Avoid all those foods. Get hit by a bus in a cross walk.
    If you look at the internals of the so-called studies linking these to cancer, you will probably find it is not humanly possible to consume the extrapolated quantities used in lab rats to induce cancer.
    Remember when they said saccharine caused cancer? They gave the rats the equivalent of 350 cans of diet soda a day. You'd drown before getting cancer.
    So if it a food you like, ignore it. If it a food you don't like, you have another excuse not to eat it.
