Gym Etiquette - What is the worst that you seen?

I hate when people at the gym will use three different machines at once, rotating after each set. Then get mad at you for hopping on an empty machine because they are on their rotation. Pick a damn machine/bench, do your reps and move on.

Then you have the one rep, walk around two laps then back to their machine for rep #2 person.

You have the groupies, where 5 people will workout together on one machine for an hour.

Also the 5min rest guy. Complete a rep, then rest for 5 min on their phone before starting rep #2.

Just the people blithely using their cell phones or tablets in the locker room when other people are around, pretty much. I go to a Y; most people are pretty nice. I doubt most of the cell/tablet people in the locker room are actually taking photos/videos, but it's still rude because we can't know for sure.

Well, there are the new people in spin class who get there before me and take MY BIKE. (<== Just kidding. But I've seen other people be miffed about that, which I think is bizarre.)

There was one guy who used the squat rack for 2 hours straight…it was kind of weird. Then there’s the family that comes in and uses both squat racks and both bench presses for the entire morning. Oh, and then there was the guy who glared at me and asked if I was using the bench press that I was sitting at and he had clearly seen me do the last 3 sets on. Dude, just because you can lift more than me doesn’t mean that you have more right to be there than I do. The people at my gym are actually usually pretty great, though, so I can’t complain too much when these things happen.

My gym has a 25 yard long piece of turf and a sled to push on it (as well as using the space for farmers carries, walking lunges etc). People, including those working with a trainer, will set up on the turf to do floor work, even though there is 20 feet of open space on either side of the turf, specifically for floor work.

    1. Endlessly scrolling on your phone while you take up a bench/squat rack/machine.
    2. Refusing to let me work in when I politely ask while you're doom scrolling on bench/squat rack/machine. (I WILL work in if you're sitting there idle for more than five minutes. I'm too old to put up with your dumb-assery)
    3. Not wiping down the bench/bar/machine when done. (some people have the manners of a toddler)
    4. Not re-racking plates when finished (this drives me CRAZY. I will chirp at you if I see that - someone has to be that guy, may as well be me.)

I saw a woman literally throw 45lb plates on the floor when removing them from a machine.
