No, you don't need to use all your calories. You'll be fine. Calorie counting is inexact at best (meaning you're not actually eating that number of calories anyway). It's an estimate that helps you gage whether you're eating way too much or way too little. I dislike MFP's way of giving an exact number and saying "eat this, no more, no less". It causes uneccesary mental stress and obsession with a number.

I’m a little confused by your question.

If your deficit is 1960, then something probably isn’t recording right. Are you saying you’re recording 1960 exercise calories in addition to your daily goal? That would be way unusual. I work out several hours daily and don’t even come close to that kind of deficit.

If your goal is 1960, that’s a completely different question.

Sorry to be nit picky, but we get people on here with some pretty wild “burn” estimates, especially if they’re relying on burns recorded by gym equipment.

Since you are new, just some terminology help.

Calorie deficit is the number of calories less that what your body burns in a day through its normal metabolic processes, activity, and exercise.

What you called your calorie deficit is likely your daily calorie allowance or goal that Myfitnesspal has already subtracted your deficit based on the weight loss goal you gave it when setting up your account and the personal information about your sex, height, age, weight, and activity level not including exercise.

Mixing those terms up can cause confusion among those trying to help you.

As for eating your whole calorie goal, ideally you should try to do so. It is a goal, and your deficit is already accounted for in giving it to you. If you have a lot to lose, eating less than that amount is not going to really hurt you unless it triggers binging. Often people starting out will eat as little as they can, usually feeling they are not hungry only to find suddenly they are ravenously hungry and can't stop eating. That is not helpful in long term adherence. Another thing to consider is the difference here is less that 100 calories. Unless your logging and the selection of foods from the database is spot on, you are well within a reasonable amount. There is, I believe, up to a 20% variation plus or minus from the stated amounts in the nutrition information on products (at least in the USA) I don't know about other countries including my own. The amount of calories you are low is only 4.5%, so don't worry about it.

If you're doing weight training, first make sure you've hit your protein macros for the day.
Other than that if you're not hungry at bedtime, don't eat extra just to hit the budget.
