Newly diagnosed type 2

I am eager to learn all I can about diabetes. New to me. I'm 67, live alone, enjoy gardening, old westerns and baking. Although my baking is going to be limited now. Nice to be here.

Welcome. I didn’t realize there was a community option on this app. This is my first time on here. I’m a type 2 diabetic also, I’m 62 and diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago. I live with my husband and one of my adult sons. I remember feeling very overwhelmed when I was first diagnosed. Once I met with the dietitian I felt a little better. I think the most shocking thing to me at the beginning was how many carbs there are in foods in relation to their serving size. And how many carbs I was actually eating. Good luck on your journey. Glad to meet you

I believe many (US) insurance companies offer free diabetes classes to their members. It would be worth checking out.
