Hey all, Charlene here. I'm 58yo, 5'8", married 40 years to Allen, 6 kids, 9 grandkids, and I'm a caregiver for the elderly so they can stay in their homes.

    Highest weight: 199 in 2011
    Lowest weight: 148 in 2017
    Ultimate Goal weight: 150

    April 30: 182.3
    May 31: 182.2
    June goal: 180.0

    June 1: 182.1 ๐Ÿฅ›โœ๏ธ ๐Ÿ˜€
    June 2: 180.6 ๐Ÿฅ›โœ๏ธ ๐Ÿคฏ ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ
June 3: 181.2 โœ๏ธ ๐Ÿฅ (<- is that an alien ship or a frisbee? I'm deciding it's a frisbee emoji for disc golf)

I didn't meet my water goal yesterday, because there wasn't a bathroom anywhere at the disc golf course, and I didn't want to need to pee. We were playing our round with 4 other men and the course was busy with lots of people, so I didn't feel comfortable sneaking off into the woods to go. Besides, poison ivy everywhere; it's a wooded course with tight, tree-lined fairways.

On the plus side: I got lots of steps in, and hubby's new super light discs that he thought were gonna be perfect for him ended up in my bag, so hooray new discs! They're too flippy for him, at 125 grams. (Flippy means they won't fly the way he wants them to.) His favorite discs weigh in the 130's/140's usually; but he thought he'd give these a try, and ended up not liking them. Me, on the other hand, they're perfect!

    06/01-182.4-(Trend Weight 185.3)-

06/02-183.4-(Trend Weight 185.2)- I had another one of my โ€œbecoming-too-commonโ€ snack fests last night. While I stuck mainly to my โ€œapproved snacksโ€, it still put me over on cals, carbs and every macro. I realized later that I had not even really been hungry. I think it was more habit than anything. I have been doing great at sticking to my pre-logged meals that are all within plan and bound to show results. And then comes that evening self-sabotage. Iโ€™ve tried everything I can think of including making my final meal so late that Iโ€™ve even eaten at 10 or 11 pm all to no avail. Those snacks are going to come afterward, usually about an hour later, no matter what! I have even woke up from a hard sleep to go potty and found my snacks and ate them half-asleep. Itโ€™s time for me to research what I can do about this habitual habit that has become much more than annoying. It reminds me of my hand-to-mouth habit I had to break when I quit smoking 17 years ago. Thatโ€™s when I gained nearly 90 pounds and this whole mess began! Another pound up today. I didnโ€™t go out of town yesterday or today. I didnโ€™t need a restaurant meal so close to that snacking fest. It will have to wait.

06/03-184.6-(Trend Weight 185.2)- Not too bad of a day yesterday. I stayed within calorie though my carbs were over target. I used the exercise bike for 32 minutes and I did a lot of deep cleaning in the house. Up today on the scale but its probably catching up to the binges/splurges I had on night time snacks recently. Today I may head out of town for the planned trip of shopping. It depends when my drywall guy gets done for the day. I hate to go because I know that lunch or dinner will be out and it will just be another day of a heavier weight on the scale tomorrow. A rollercoaster Iโ€™d like to stop. However, I really would like to go and get it out of the way. The projects they are starting will keep them later the rest of the week. Regardless, I know Iโ€™ll be right back on top of my plan in the days following so I suppose it is what it is. Have a great week everyone. Crush it!

Oops - I forgot to post yesterday. My kid appeared to have a health emergency and we had to go to the ER. After testing, we found that we can wait to talk to his GP on Wednesday before we make a plan of action. But we were there until 4:00 am. It was a busy night I guess. Le Sigh. So I planned on starting work late, and then the power went out at like 8am, so I just skipped work entirely.

We are having a rain storm right now, and we had a wind advisory this morning. I wasnโ€™t aware of the wind advisor, so nothing was charged over 20% which really sucked. But the power is back! And while it is windy, we are in a sunny spot of the storm. So Iโ€™m doing yard work, and then the rain is coming back tonight.

I preplanned food at the hospital and took a protein puck and fizzy water so I didnโ€™t end up eating candy in a vending machine. So no cost to the old food plan.

Hubs and I took two walks together today, to that was really nice.

    *******************

@cattherien - I get it. I tried intuitive eating and didnโ€™t lose any weight. On the bright side, no matter what I did, I stayed at the same weight and didnโ€™t gain (once I changed jobs). I come here to set my intentions for the day and then reflect back at the end of the day. And community! :)
AND - you are hilarious. Dropping down to your goal so fast!

@deepwoodslady - I was going to suggest going to bed, because that is when I snack too. But, I donโ€™t wake up once Iโ€™m asleep. At least not long enough to go to the kitchen anyway. Iโ€™ve heard of this before, so hopefully someone who has dealt with it before can weigh in.

    @yodaloo88 - welcome!

    SW: 216.8 | May 214.4 |

    *** Goals***

Non-weight goals are to make my porridge every day and have standardized meals, with a different salad or soup added in.
Exercise goals are to stretch 2x a day and walk 5 days a week, minimum a mile.
    Get more sleep. :)
Weight goal - lose 4 pounds in June - so land at 210.4

05/31 - 214.2 reaching for 212.6 to start the next leg of my journey.
06/01. 212.6 ๐ŸŽ† I did it, I am starting the next leg! Whoo Hoo!
    06/02 - 212.8 the 212 stuck!
06/03 - 211.8 - It looks like a lot of weight, but I am eating around 1600 calories a day and it is a wide variety of healthy food. I think that the 214 - 212 was just clearing out the inflammation because of the extra salt and sugar. I figure itโ€™s going to slow to 1# a week now, which feels good to me.

    June Starting Weight: 149.6

Each Month I write a reflection on how the month went. Here is mine from May if you want to read. For the new people (and the not so new)- I strongly encourage you to take some before pictures. I didn't do so in the beginning and I regret it. It takes a LONG time to actually see a difference in yourself, and to be honest takes a long time for those that are around you every day to see it too. If you take some before and after pictures every month you'll notice the difference sooner, which can be quite a motivating to keep going. You will acctually see all the hard work that you are doing is paying off. And believe me it is really hard! Be proud of what you are doing - put yourself first sometimes. You are allowed to do so! You've Got This!

    May Reflection

Iโ€™ll start with the good this month. I lost weight this month! Not the four pounds I wanted to lose but a loss. Two pounds towards my goal and met my goal to get into the 140s! I am down 78.4 pounds since starting my weight loss journey.

I reached the 1,200 mile marker on my quest to walk 2,024 miles in 2024. I have logged 1,215 miles to date. My tracker remains in the purple range (that means I will make it). So far have averaged 7.99 miles per day. This tracker is all miles walked โ€“ not just intentional. I am also tracking my intentional miles, just to see how I do. To date I have tracked 917.9 intentional miles. This puts me at 45% complete (just ahead of where I should be to meet the goal).

My Biggest Loser and Hogwarts challenges both were running in May. I have wonderful teams for both challenges. Such a fantastic and inspiring group of people all helping each other meet our goals. I have said it before and I will say it again, I wouldnโ€™t be where I am without them. They keep me motivated and accountable and make this journey a fun one.

Now for the ugly - I had an injury mid-month that has been very discouraging for my goals. I hurt my knee somehow which has limited my mobility. For the past couple weeks have been limited to a few small walks, and mostly seated chair exercises. I found a couple workouts that are halfway decent, but honestly donโ€™t know how well I am actually burning calories. I had an orthopedic appointment and MRI, but am still waiting for my follow-up appointment to discuss what they found. It is scheduled for June 4th. I have been continuing the strength, cardio, and stretch exercises but my 17K a day steps didnโ€™t happen. I did not meet my 250 miles or my 150 miles of intentional walking this month.

I finished the first book of the Harry Potter series, along with my Hogwarts Challenge. I am continuing to read the third book of the Invisible Library Series โ€“ โ€œThe Burning Pageโ€, but honestly donโ€™t really enjoy it โ€“ so it has been a tough one.

I have realized that my mission to reach the ideal range by my birthday in August will be a stretch and that is disappointing. Realistically, and at the rate I have been losing lately, it will probably be October so am setting this as my new goal. After reaching, I want to lose another five pounds to keep myself under control. My goal to reach that additional five pounds is my two-year mark on this journey โ€“ January 8, 2025!

    I WILL get there.

    My June Goals:

โ€ข Lose 4 pounds (always my goal), but be happy with a 2% loss for the month
โ€ข Alternate days of Cardio and Strength Training
โ€ข Stretch 3 days per week
โ€ข Finish the Burning Page and find something fun to read

My Before and After for May:

    wl61a7zo63pa.png

June 1: 149.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŽฎME! Got it all done yesterday. Today will be a fun day - still hope to get it all done. My sister is having a picnic today, with the family and friends. I promise to make some good choices and will do my best to log everything. Hoping not to see the 50s tomorrow but I do expect it - and it will be temporary!

June 2: 150.2 ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ’ฆ๐ŸŽฎME! What I expected, but had a wonderful time yesterday. I logged everything (and it wasn't pretty). Back to it today!

June 3: 148 ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŽฎME! I got it all done. It was the last day of the Hogwarts challenge and I had to meet my unbreakable vow. Silly me, vowed to average at least 100 minutes of intentional exercise over four weeks. I started out ok, but then my knee injury came in week three. Without my hour walk in the AM, 100 minutes is a LOT - especially in a chair. But I did it (it helped that I did a lot in the beginning of the month)! Also at the end of last month I decided to give my plateau a boost and ordered a week of Nutrisystem. It appears to be working. My body probably just needed a change in diet!

June 4: 148.2 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŽฎME! It was bingo night with Mom last night, noone won. I did have a peppermint patty - which is off my plan this week. Slightly over on the calories. Didn't make my step goal yesterday, thinking I might be a stretch, but will keep it there until I hear from the doctor today. I am a little nervous about what she will say - hoping at least they can tell me why I hurt.

Hey all, Charlene here. I'm 58yo, 5'8", married 40 years to Allen, 6 kids, 9 grandkids, and I'm a caregiver for the elderly so they can stay in their homes.

Well I don't get it... I met my water goal, logged everything I ate, and was right at my calorie allowance. It just must be sodium.

Yesterday I went to work in the morning then came home to pack some books in our "library" - one of the kids' old bedrooms that we lined the walls with bookshelves. I was able to keep my selections to only 2 book boxes. But that was hard. Yet I know our son will take good care of the books we leave behind. It's a bit of a family culture with all of us. Allen has almost finished packing his book boxes; 8 so far. ๐Ÿคช He spent the day doing the mowing... It's a struggle for him because he has some heart issues yet it's good to make his heart work a bit.

We may go play disc golf later this morning. Then I am doing more meal prep for the work week.

This evening he has an important interview in the dream job process, meeting in person with the committee in charge of hiring someone to fill the position. He has always interviewed very well and he's over qualified, so it should go well.

Here's a photo from last night after we packed the freezer meals. I basically cook like I'm still feeding our big family, but then we package it up into individual servings for the work week, and those containers go in the freezer or fridge, depending on whether the food is freezer safe.

06/04-182.6-(Trend Weight 184.9)- A nice drop today which I am grateful for. Trying again to ward off the night time over-indulgences, I ate dinner at 9:30 pm. About 10:30 I made a protein shake after researching if it was okay to drink one at night so close to bed (bed about 1:30 am). Itโ€™s fine, and even helpful depending on what article you read I suppose. About 30 minutes after drinking it I felt suddenly very hungry. I ignored it and it did finally pass. I did not feel the need later for any other snacks so in the end I think it may have helped. My goal was to have the protein help fill me and the sweetness of it satisfy my sweet tooth. Last night it did seem to work. I did not sleep well or sleep much, but that has been going on for days. Iโ€™m really tweaking and playing around with so many aspects of health and weight loss right now. The perfect storm is out there somewhere!

@deepwoodslady Isn't it funny how when you just figure it out your body says this doesn't work anymore. Definitely keeps us on ours toes! Well done my friend.

    Starting the June Challenge:

4/6 - First week going well. Consistently hitting my 10,000 steps per day. ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ

Intermittent fasting going well too, though, I may be benefiting from the weight loss honeymoon period, but I'll take anything I can get.

Went to the gym this morning to run though a free health check. It seems all good and have achieved one milestone as moved from Obese BMI to Overweight. ใ€Š I went from 28.1 to 26.3.

Good luck to all. You're all really inspiring. ๐Ÿ’›

    โ€
Lurked around last month as started my weight loss journey on 18th May. Since then I've lost 5lbs, which I'm really excited about.

I'm mixing up intermittent fasting with a minimum of 10,000 steps per day.

    The aim this month is:

    1/6 - SW: 169.20
    4/6 - 167.55

    GW: 165
    UGW: 140

Based in London and this journey started when I was on the tube and a young women asked me if I wanted her seat. I politely declined but couldn't get it out of my head. I kept wondering if she thought I was pregnant or really old ๐Ÿค” whatever the reason I knew I had to do something. So the next day 18th May I started walking a minimum of 10,000 steps.

I should really thank her, because I've been wanting to get healthier and reduce my BMI but just kept filling myself with takeaways because of convenience. At one stage I was gonna buy shares in JustEat and Uber Eats to get some of my money back ๐Ÿ˜„

All the best to you all on getting to your GW this June. ๐Ÿ’›

Mmmm, made a fabulous salad for dinner tonight. I saved a portion for tomorrow as well. Iโ€™m grateful to live near a fabulous grocery store with all of the fresh ingredients and that we are fortunate enough to be able to buy them. When I sit down and do the math, this is expensive - but delicious.

I am trying to lose weight, but in a way that is maintainable and uses intuition. My diet today was balanced and filled with many different foods. I donโ€™t have any cravings, probably because my needs are being met. Tomorrow should be good as well, since I still have everything prepped. So I have to figure out what food I want to make tomorrow night. It is hard to prep when I have 3 big guys (2 still growing) that plow through everything I make. They finished the salad, and had the full dinner their dad made. :0

I got in my 3 laps exercise tonight. Iโ€™m up to 1.5 miles in 1/2 an hour, which I feel is really great. Iโ€™m going to sit here for a while. Over 1/2 an hour starts to feel onerous. It might be that I do that level during the week, but add up a little on the weekend. My knee is holding. Just some pain in the first 1/4 mile, then it warms up and settles down. I just have to make sure I walk well and donโ€™t step on a pine cone. They are everywhere!

@live2walk - Darlene - good luck at the doctor today. I hope you get some answers.

@cattherien - Charlene - I forgot where/why you are moving. Is it Allen who is interviewing? What is his dream job? Iโ€™m wishing him good luck! Also, what is the red flying saucer thing in your picture?

@deepwoodslady - Iโ€™m glad you found something that worked. I swear, I can eat all day long and then feel starving at night. I usually drink a bunch of chamomile tea for bed and if I am still hungry have a fiber drink. Lord knows I need the fiber anyway.

@ozdeelite - Oh no! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

@lislisa123 - hopefully its just a blip. Usually the next day or two it magically disappears for me. If I am eating well most of the time, that extra salt really messes me up.

06/04 - 212.6 - up down up down - still down though overall

    SW: 216.8
    Trend - 212.6
GW: 199 hold for 6 months
