I'm returning after putting on all the weight I lost... and found!!

I first joined in 2012... and have come to the realisation I have to sort my *kitten* out again!!
I have now realised I have to get help... people to talk to and to bounce ideas off of!
When I joined I was on my way to my goal weight... then though "Oh I've got this" and gave up my premium subscription... and in the last 12 years I have put on 40kg (after giving up smoking, losing my brother to cancer at an early age and becoming an only child, living through COVID and then having to deal with yet more cancer with my mum... getting covid twice... more cancer and finally realising I have medical issues and need surgery... OMG I AM FALLING APART... and how do I cope I binge and binge and binge (sadly with the occasional purge)...
So yes I need help!!! Or should I say kindred spirits who are going through things as well!
I feel like no matter what I do I don't seems to lose weight... what am I doing wrong!?!
OK so I have been tracking what I eat and I still feel like either I need more or I should eat less... either way when I have to plan meals for one I eat enough for 2 or 3... si my goal for the weeks is plan my meals... prep my meals and not eat extra!

Breathe. Planning your meals is a good start. You're going to have to find other ways to cope with your stress. Try to think of other things that calm you but don't involve food. Reading? Walking? Painting? Breathing? Yoga? Hanging out with a friend? Unless you find other ways to cope, you'll struggle with binging. Learn to talk yourself through it, telling yourself how you're feeling, why you're feeling that way, and what might help you feel better, because food won't.1

Yeah, exactly what sollyn says.
If hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the solution.
It becomes a go-to coping habit.
Planning the day's food is a great plan, and don't try to push too hard. I'd say set your Goal at "Lose 1 pound per week." Ease into changes. Like, don't try to live on only chicken breast and broccoli this week, but maybe give up wine during the week or soda pop or daily dessert or some other non-necessary thing. Changing everything at once won't work, but small changes in the right direction will eventually get you where you want to be.
Give yourself grace. You've been through it. I think we all have, life is a non-stop series of challenges and the good news is you're equipped to withstand them and to succeed.1 -
You need some serious self-reflection on how to cope with feeling hungry. It shouldn't be a surprise-emergency every time.
Do this thinking when you're not hungry.
What I do, is think through this affirmation:
Hunger is the feeling of excess fat going away. I want this to happen. In the huge range of human pain and discomfort, this is pretty minor. My next meal is coming soon. This is all worth it, and I will stay true to my goal.3
