Cancer recovery brought me here

Hi, British 61yo man here. I'm on a mission to optimise my health and fitness after prostate cancer treatment which finished ~18mo ago.
I've feel I've done fantastically well getting over the treatment, I feel fitter and healthier now than for decades before ! I owe this to lifestyle changes upon my diagnosis and running up to, during, and after my treatment. I stopped alcohol, upped my exercise, and used a low carb/healthy fats/wholefoods type diet. I dropped my weight 15kg during this without really trying, TBH I was a bit too skinny, but I felt great !
I also owe a lot to treating myself to an Apple watch last May. This has been great for tracking my vital signs and for motivation.
I'm now looking to use the app to track my nutrition as I attempt to build muscle mass, whilst keeping my weight in check.

Congratulations on the wonderful progress: Good show!

I'm a cancer survivor, too, but breast cancer in my case. I started being routinely active shortly after cancer treatment (and a hypothyroidism diagnosis), because I realized that if I ever wanted to feel strong, vital and maybe even happy again, I needed to work at it. That was a huge quality of life improvement.

Unfortunately, though I got much fitter than I'd ever been, I didn't commit to weight loss until about a dozen years later. That was almost 9 years ago now, and also a big quality of life improvement. Things are still going pretty well: Still active and at a healthy weight.

Wishing you continuing success and good health: Commitment and persistence make a huge contribution.
