Increased caloric goal (help)

Hi all, I've been using the app for 12 weeks with the gaol set to 1200 daily calories. I've been doing 10 lb goals at a time and updating my weight in the app every couple of lbs. This morning I updated my weight and dropped my goal another 10 lbs. I've done this twice now and am down 25 lbs, however, my daily calorie goal INCREASED to 1650. I dont understand the reason for an increase and I'm afraid if I follow that I won't continue to see weight loss results. I have not been adding in any exercise. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks

Did you change your settings? Your activity level or your weight loss rate?
Your goal weight doesn't influence your calorie goal, but your personal stats, activity setting and weight loss rate do.

I didn't change anything except my current weight ans goal. I just went back and looked and the others are still at what I have them set at. I'm just not sure why it increased my daily calories, that doesn't make sense to me.

Unless you changed your RATE of loss which would in turn change your deficit size with 250, 500, 750, or 1000 Cal a day being the common ones. Or unless you changed your ACTIVITY LEVEL, which if increased from sedentary would potentially give you more calories than 1200 per day once your subtract your deficit from what you're expected to spend. If neither of the two applies and all you did was reduce your current weight, the expectation would be that if your current weight goes down and EVERYTHING else stays the same your caloric goal would reduce. Given that 1200 is already a hard floor for the software, this means that your goal would not change from 1200.

Then your goal should have stayed the same at 1200 Cal per day!

Getting a floor number such as 1200 for F and 1500 for M is an indication that for your combination of age, gender, activity level, body height and body weight your selected deficit is not going to be achieved unless one of the other factors changes. Commonly this is done by modifying the activity level through the addition of exercise.

If that's not what you got (i.e. a goal of 1200 like you used to have) then something is amiss either with your inputs or with the software.

Thank you. I knew that couldn't make sense! I may just try resetting the app or something. In the meantime I can still at least track my food and keep to the 1200 calories myself, but I like getting the "in 5 weeks you'll weigh this" thing at the end of the days. Thanks for your help!

I found it! Somehow I (or the system) changed the goal from 2 lbs per week to losing 1 lb per week. I changed it back and it dropped back to 1200 calories. Thanks again!
