This is gonna be venty.

I just can't be the easy, laid back person I used to be especially when it comes to this whole apt parking situation.

I saw the woman who parks next to me when I got home after work. Her car was completely in the area between the two spaces and I was just on the attack. "What's it going to take? Just tell me what's it going to take for you to park right?" She's like "Why do you park so close to me?"

Because I'm trying to stay inside the lines, you stupid *kitten*!

She tried to justify it by pointing out that space between the real spaces is part of the parking space itself but c'mon!

I don't even know if it's illegal and I even checked out the dmv handbook to make sure but I didn't see where they covered it.

It's inconsiderate and everything but I'm still convinced SHE's the one who damaged my car (after getting it back from the auto body shop from another accident) and the only reason I haven't filed a claim is because they just shelled out a lot of money for that last accident and I've only been with them for 2ish years. Not a good look.

Am I wrong that she should stay within those lines?

And I didn't even want any part in confronting her or the people who think it's ok to park in my spot when I'm gone (they all come from the same apt number) but when I complained, the bldg manager told me where to find them.

BIG mistake.

I feel you...some people are like a thorn in your *kitten*. So irritating....had to deal with one earlier.

My neighbor used to park in front of my house. One day when I had company, we went out in my car and some of my company parked in my driveway and some in front of my house while we were gone. When we came home, I parked in front of their house, being very careful to park where the mailman couldn't get to their mailbox. I left it there--just didn't go anywhere all weekend. They never parked in front of my house again. They parked in front of their house, being very careful to park where the mailman could get to the mailbox.
Not trying to be mean. Just fed up.
    Figure it out.

Not relevant, but the same neighbors declawed cat jumped out of my car one winter Monday morning.
Apparently she was cold and snuck into my warm car while I was unloading groceries Friday evening.
I started to really holler at them, but figured I'd get a sore throat and they'd let it go in one ear and out the other. I just watched out for the cat from then on.

A couple of times when I got home first, I tried to deliberately park over the line but just couldn't do it.

And now I'm imagining the cat jumping straight at your face. Fun! :)

Life would be so much easier if people did what they were told.

This has been going on a long time. I've lived in this building for almost 30 years and this is the first time I've ever had a problem with another tenant. The woman really hasn't learned how parking works.

Not like with a tire iron or anything!

Just yelling because, again, problems with these people have been going on a while.

    Emotional reactions are normal

Avoiding use of tire irons commendable! Better to vent.

    LOL true.

And I do think it wouldn't annoy me so much and I wouldn't be so confrontational about if my car hadn't been damaged...especially after being scolded for a month when parking that I was too close to the car and couldn't turn the voice off.

    Yes.

Hardest thing to do is remain calm in face of unfair brutal verbal assualts.

Any proof they were the perpetrator of the damage?

We had a red car that was hit/damaged 7 times anonymously; 5x in parking lots, 2x parked on street. It was a veritable bulls eye. Sold the sucker... :D

Well, i only leave my car parked in 2 places. At home and at work. My car is maroon? Mauve? and had white paint on it along with the dent and hers is a white car with a trace of my color. I couldn't say for sure if the damage matches up but there's like a 90% chance it was her.

They say red cars are targets! So don't ask why I bought a variant of red. :)

    :::nods:::

Restraint, choosing not to retaliate, choosing to descalate hopefully will lead to a less difficult time ahead, but document/keep running journal of current damage, paint on cars, and daily poor parking habits.

Maybe check with an atty consult about your options and obligations...

    Maybe they will move.... ;)

LOL. Yes and no. It still irks me and I swear she deliberately parked in no man's land because of our ladt confrontation but it got me to call my insurance company to see what would most likely happen if I filed a claim (other than me being embarrassed because of the car accident last summer and already having to put in a new one).
