Welcome to MFP @77nhgjfcwp
Please take this as said with kindness. I was overweight myself for thirty years, so I feelz ya, if you know what I mean. I’ve lost from a 22W down to a size 4, starting at 56, with everyone around me saying “You’re old. You’re postmenopausal. You can’t. You won’t follow through”. I don’t say this to brag, but to stress that if I can do it, any old fool can do it.
It wasn’t easy, but surprisingly it was way easier than I ever thought it would be. I overthought it and made it insurmountable in my mind. Thoughts are a powerful thing, and negative ones have the most power.
Are you weighing and logging your food? Or relying on the injection to do the work for you?
Can you incorporate some form of exercise? Something you enjoy? There’s a lot of people here who are chair bound or otherwise disabled. If that’s an issue, mention it in your replay and I’ll try to direct someone your way.
Can you make substitutions? Cut calories in favorite foods or recipes? I’ve learned there’s always a way to cut calories, if I get creative. Now I see it as a fun challenge.
Sure, weight loss is fine, and as Kate Moss famously (and rather obnoxiously) said “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.” That’s great but the improvement in health and outlooks far “outweighs” (sorry!) the appearance thing. I spent years crawling out of bed and doing the hand-over-hand thing just to make it to the bathroom because it hurt so bad to walk.Getting rid of a second person clinging to my back and weighing down knees and feet was life changing. And—- I know how to stretch it out and work through it now. Invaluable!
You can do this with or without meds. But you’ve got to invest yourself in it one way or the other. Are you game?
We are here to support you! 😘8 -
I’m taking loads of medications - thyroxine, prednisolone, mycophenolate, ramapril, amilodypine, doxasosin - to name a few, but it has taken me lots of failed attempts to lose weight.
But weight loss ….it is happening now … finally!
Had to change my mindset as well as my lifestyle and I found that so hard .
I have also had to accept that my long term health condition &, currently, being post treatment for a flare up, and having some nasty GI side effects means I’ve had to slow way down, listen to to the “old body” & let self recover ……
Over the last year and a bit, I have lost 54lbs, returned my HbA1C to near normal levels. My goal is to lose another 30lbs and I will get there, no matter how long it takes 😉
Good luck @77nhgjfcwp - as @Springlering62 says, join in, there are loads of seasonsed MFPer’s who can support you on here…. If you have a larger amount to lose, there is a good group of folks on the Larger Losers group who are inspirational & very friendly2 -
I'm with you. I'm 157cm and 80KG - the heaviest I have EVER been in my life - and on Ozempic for 4 months now and not 1 gram lost. I exercise 4 - 6 times a week for an hour each time. I am a mindful eater. Thyroid is fine, sugar levels are normal, I take colestrol meds . Way post menopausal. And this is so depressing to not loose weight. Previously I lost 10-12 kg on a Keto type diet, but came off it and put it all back on plus another 8 kg. Any advise would be appreciated0
