How should I think about macros?

I’m a bit unsure of what my carb target actually means. For protein I’m trying to eat at least as much as my target. For fat I’m trying to stay below the target, so it’s more of a limit than a goal. Is my carb target per MFP a goal (I should try to eat at least that many carbs) or a limit (try not eat more than this many carbs)? I never hit my carb target even though I’m a vegetarian so most of my proteins also include carbs. I’m just wondering if it’s a problem and I need to eat more carbs or it’s fine as long as I feel good, have enough energy, etc?

I'm usually under carbs. I Don't worry about it. Like you, protein is a target I often go over. Fat is a limit, which I also often go over.

Fat could be considered a goal to achieve rather than a limit, depending on the number: our bodies need fat for certain bodily processes, too little fat isn't good (too much isn't bad unless they are mostly 'bad' fats and/or you find it harder to stay within your calorie goal).

Carbs are personal preference: some people prefer eating low(er) carb because they feel more sated. It's only a problem if you find you don't have enough energy (during exercise for example).
