Heart Rate Monitor

Whats better, heart rate monitor or activity tracker? And whats the best and cheapest brand?

    Depends on what your wanting to do.

    HRM are great for steady state cardio, but not much else.
    Activity trackers are great for getting an idea of how active you are, how much you burn in a day total, etc. They are generally not good for tracking anything outside of walking/running.

    Personally I use a combination. I have a $30 HRM w/chest strap that I bought on amazon.com and a Fitbit Zip ($60...cheapest fitbit model).

    ^^^^ This. I have a Polar FT 4 HRM that works great for running and cycling and a FitBit Zip just because I like toys and it's fun to see what it tracks in a day. I don't place much stock in the Zip's calorie estimates but it does encourage me to move a bit more during the day.
