a place for people trying to quit smoking. For some reason I feel like if I had a place like MFP to go everyday and especially when I feel like I need a smoke........I might actually be able to quit! My goals have been to quit smoking and lose weight by 35. I will be 35 in 1 month. I have been over weight and smoking for 22 years........I don't wanna die from being out of shape and unhealthy, its not too late to figure it out right?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

There are a few people on here that have or are quitting.
So maybe someone would start a thread?

I quit a long time ago after smoking for about 15 years. I went to a weekend retreat held by either the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. (It's been so long ago I forget which! )
I hate that sort of thing, but it worked.

I am sure if you check either website, you can get some information about their programs.

    Good luck!

I don't know where you live but I have seen Nicotine Anonymus groups. Check to see if there is one in your area. Good luck. I quit five years ago. It was easy for me since I had developed asthma and my doctor said my lungs were that of a 110 year old man. I slip up from time to time. For the most part it is the greatest thing I could have done for myself.
    Good luck.

I stopped smoking July 23rd, 2007. I did have help with quiting. I had tried every stop smoking program out there and finally one day I overheard one of my co-workers talking about a pill that his doctor gave him. I talked to him about it and then spoke with my doctor who has been pushing me for years to stop smoking. Chantix is the pill... it works wonderful!!! After taking this for 2 weeks I quit smoking... took the medication for 3 more week (5 weeks total) and have been smoke free ever since. Below are some links for support- I haven't checked them out personally. Good luck!

I stopped last year - none of my friends were smoking at the time, so that helped.

    This might help you:
