recipe weight...

Hi guys,

So I've gotten into cooking a lot more now that I have discovered so many wonderful sites and blogs for healthy recipes.

I have a question about weight. So usually what I do is weigh my ingredients before I cook, e.g. 504 g raw zucchini = 86 calories.

Because I rarely make single portion meals, I use the method I do with everything thing else to calculate my calories off a nutritional label: calories per serving / grams per serving * grams to be eaten. So for instance:

I weigh out 80 grams of lettuce.
The nutrition label says 1 serving of lettuce is 85 grams and 10 calories
So : 10/85 = .1176
And: .1176 8 80 = 9.4 = 9 ( I round up or down)

Anyways back to subject. When making a recipe, although I weigh my ingredient prior to cooking, should I weight the TOTAL grams before cooking or after?

I've been calculating the total calories before cooking and bouncing those off of grams after cooking...but I wonder if I should have been bouncing the total calories off of grams before cooking...

Sorry for making things way more complicated then they should be...just very curious to what you guys think AND want to make sure I'm not underestimating my intake.
