Make sure you are 100% dialed in on tracking - it’s likely you are not in the deficit you think. I my experience it goes back to tracking - also don’t eat back any calories burned as the cals burned most wearables provide is usually not accurate- just some suggestions - good luck

I am passionate about logging in the calories, but I eat too many bad calories and am not in the gym as often as I once was.

It doesn't matter if they are 'bad' calories or not: gaining weight is from eating too many calories. So what timescale are we talking about, being under calories and gaining?
Short-term: weight can fluctuate because of many reasons not related to fat gain.
Long-term: you may be underestimating your intake or overestimating your calorie burns.

It would also help if you gave your stats (height, weight, age) and opened your diary for some more personalized help.
