Over vs Under Estimating

Hi there,
I've been using MFP for four weeks now and I've only recently started looking at these forums and found people saying that in some cases MFP might over estimate the calories gained in exercising... I actually think that it might be under estimating for me, but like I say I'm very new to this... Anyone have any advice on a 40 min spin session and a 5k run at 5.5 miles per hour?
Thanks in advance and Happy Friday.

Depends on your weight.... The 5k I'd estimate 100 cal per mile so 280-300 . I only burn about 280 doing 5k at 10 min miles. Spin I'm not so sure?? 400?0
