The link between nutrition and finances

Has anyone else noticed this? I find myself most frustrated with my eating habits and my finances - I'm eating too much unhealthy food (take-out) and I'm constantly over "budget" (in quotations because I'm not really applying it).
I set myself a few goals in September:
1. Track everything I eat and stay within my limits (I'm pretty good about tracking)
2. Track all of my spending
3. I can have 6 lunches out over the course of the month (work days) - if I used them all in the first week, I'd have only one left for the rest of the month
Funny, once I started recording every cent I was spending, I severely cut down the unnecessary purchases. Case in point? I haven't been to Starbucks all week (a 2-3 times/week habit on the way to work) and today will be my first lunch out of the month - because I chose to go out with coworkers. I've even had two days where I haven't spent anything.
And I've dropped four lbs in six days, after fighting for months and not getting anywhere. I've known for a while my eating habits were the issue; I work out hard for 4-5 hours a week, but it was *hard* to say no to pizza at lunch, a latte and a muffin for breakfast, etc., and I was "busy". Funny how once I link my nutritional decisions to my budget (that I'm bound and determined to stick to this month), my eating cleans right up, and my body pays attention!
