I need moral support..

Hi guys,
A colleague of mine lost quite some 6-8kg on weight watchers.
She is now an object of admiration of how much can one achieve on a diet, which is partially good.
However that person is completely against any physical exercise. She lost all this weight by eating less or much less and with no exercise.
For some reason I feel a little demoticated.. I always exercise, I am active every day and I (at least I tell myself that) believe in eating more (1400-1500 kcal) but exercising with it! She's on the other pole.
why do I feel like a looser?

First of all... don't compare yourself to her. Only compare to you.
you are 2kgs less than you were... and that makes you more of a winner. (well, technically a weight loser)
Secondly, she has lost fat, but has not gained strength. That will not translate as nicely in body composition as what you are doing. You are losing size and weight by changing your body composition.
That will translate in a body that is stronger, more firm, and very aesthetically pleasing.
Thirdly, you need patience. You don't have a lot of weight to lose on your ticker - so it may take a while.
But it is so worth the wait, the way you are doing it.0 -

This is the most important thing right here.
Also, You state in your "About me" in your profile that you are only looking to lose ~5 kgs. That's not a lot of weight. From that I am guessing that you are already pretty close to being in shape.
Your coworker has lost more than you are planning to lose. She will probably get more praise, etc. as she had more to lose, and it may be more noticable.
You are doing a healthy weight loss. Not only are you losing weight, you are improving your fitness. You are going to end up much healthier in the long run as you will have strength, endurance and cardiovascular tone. You will be able to accomplish more, and will eliminate many health risks by wokring on both weight and exercise.0 -
The subject of your post says you need moral support...
Well here it is: Keep doing what works for you! You are at this to better YOURSELF and it looks like that's what you're doing.
Now... I you said this:why do I feel like a looser? She is now an object of admiration of how much can one achieve on a diet, which is partially good.
Perhaps the last part there, answers the first part?
Just wanting to call your attention to the negative train of thought. Someone else's weight lost should not make you feel like a loser. Its not about you.
If you are after said admiration, well, I can't help you with that.
Please keep in mind that what your coworker eats/doesn't eat, does/doesn't do has ZERO bearing on you and your journey.0 -
Everyone on MFP is doing things just a little differently from everyone else. You will find people on here like me who emphasized calorie restriction over exercise for various reasons. Doesn't make it right, or your way wrong. It's just what works for me (us). You just need to keep doing what you know works for you and recognize you are very likely maintaining more lean body mass that she (I) is, because drastic weight loss with no muscle gain means some of the weight being lost is muscle mass.
Just my thoughts...0
