Hi everybody! My name is Brittany, and I'm 28 years young. I had the lap-band surgery in 2008, and lost down to about 135 pounds. I then had the fluid taken out of my band and have since gained back 50 pounds. Along with getting my band filled back and realizing I just cannot eat like a normal person, I have been eating fewer calories (Around 1,000-1,200 a day) drinking lots of water and going to the gym 3-5 times a week. SO far I've been fluctuating between 185 and 187 and sometimes even get up to 191-193. What am I doing wrong? I want to fit into my size 6's by next summer, instead of these horrific size 15's. I feel like I'm doomed to fail, because my weight hasn't gone down any. HELP!!

    Hi, welcome to MFP :flowerforyou:

I'm sorry, I can't really give you advice because I'm not familiar with weight loss using a lap-band, or in people with a history of its use. I hope you seek advice from a dietitian and doctor that specializes in weight loss surgery patients. And, more importantly, that you find something that works, and stick to it. Good luck!

Hello, my wife had the gastric bypass herself, Roux en-Y to be exact. She fell through the same issues with weight fluctuations but lost a total of 160 pounds. She consumed high protein foods throughout the day and limited the carbs to just enough to keep from feeling sluggish. She also walked a lot and worked her way into P90X and Insanity.

I can help some more, you can friend me if you wish. I can also respond to emails on MFP with greater detail. Cheers...

I'm no expert but your caloric intake seems low for someone your age and level of exercise. Has this 1000-1200 calorie diet been endorsed by your doc or dietician? When my weight loss stalled I actually upped my calories a bit and it restarted. Now let me say I didn't up it with a bunch of junk food. Just more lean protein, healthy carbs and fruits and veggies.
