Menopause

Are there any women in this community going through menopause and trying to eat healthier and workout to aid in controlling symptoms? Of so I’d love to connect. Community of people going through something similar helps to keep me going.

There tend to be quite a few threads about menopause, so I'm guessing the answer would be "yes". There are also some age-group threads or similar where that would potentially be a topic.

I'm 68, been in menopause since about 45, when I was put there quite quickly via chemotherapy for cancer. After that, I took estrogen suppressing drugs for 7.5 years, which in some ways create a hyper-menopausal state. That, and participation in a support group with others in similar circumstances, gave me some experience with managing menopause side effects without hormone replacement therapy (HRT). (HRT effectively is toxic, potentially deadly, for people like me - not so for others necessarily, though.)

I didn't lose weight until age 59-60, much later. Obviously, I was still in menopause (and severely hypothyroid besides, but medicated for it). I can't say that I'm the person you're looking for who is "going through menopause and trying to eat healthier and workout to aid in controlling symptoms". I'm maintaining a healthy weight (since loss), my menopause symptoms are either reduced or just a regular part of my life at this point, but I do try to sustain a reasonably healthy eating routine and stay active.

My main point is: Menopause can't be changed or reversed, other than the effects some may get from HRT. Specific symptoms have some tactics we can use, if you have specific things you're struggling with. Healthy eating and a workout routine aren't IMO really different for someone in menopause than anyone else, though women in the relevant age group do on average share some lifestyle factors that we can address to improve our results.

Best wishes for success here: IMO, it's achievable, and the results are worth the effort!
