Hello and welcome!
Yep, it's the routine day in, day out habits that have the biggest impact. While all inclusive holidays can be dangerous, for most of us they're a small fraction of our time, so kind of a teacup in the ocean.
For me, logging my foods brought quick insight: Things that I was routinely eating that weren't worth it to me in then-current portions/frequencies once I knew their calorie "cost". If a food didn't deliver enough tastiness, nutrition, satiety, or happiness for those calories, it was eliminated or reduced. Instant calorie savings! (And new daily habits.)
