Some people that are “skinny fat” need to add muscle fist then come back and lose fat later.

If you're saying that you don't have much excess weight, but do have excess belly fat:

    * Tom's comment about adding muscle is on point.
    * When fat is lost, it comes off wherever your body's genetics dictate, often the fat that came on first being the last to deplete, and often the belly area being that place.
    * Take a look at your posture. Some bad postural habits that are common these days will make any belly fat look more prominent than it needs to. Example possible problems: Anterior pelvic tilt, rounded-shoulders/head forward posture (sometimes called "nerd neck" or more technically "kyphotic posture"), habit of standing with locked knees. A simple web search will bring up photos you can use to self-assess, plus exercises you can use to improve any that are a problem.

    Best wishes!

Agree about posture. I’ve got scoliosis, which makes me appear to have a belly.

When I’m especially tired, stressed, something hurts, or I’m feeling bloated or “fat”, it’s worse. Full on, old lady hunchback.

I have to remember to stand up straight and pull my shoulders back and down. Voila! When I do, it just changes everything.

But I’m going to hazard a guess here. I never heard the term “belly fat” until clickbait came along.

Are you spending a lot of time online? Instagram? TikTok? Don’t don’t don’t compare yourself to folks on the internet. The poses, the editing, all the techniques to acquire “perfection” that can leave the rest of us feeling inadequate and “less than”.

I got a bellyful (sorry!) of that from checkout tabloids and magazines as a teen and young adult. I have made a conscious decision not to look at people online hawking me products. I even got off Facebook because the artificiality of “perfect lives” cause comparison and depression. I had to remember, people only present the best of themselves and they cultivate that faux best.

Be the best YOU can be. Not the best somebody else is touting.
