Restarting again

Just back from a 10 day all inclusive holiday in Majorca and restarting diet. Want to lose weight before my 70th birthday holiday to Malta in March next year. Aiming to lose as much as possible by then. Final goal is over 6 stone to lose. Any encouragement gratefully received and will use this community for accountability

Hello, and welcome back! I hope you had a great holiday. :)

I'm sure you can lose a meaningful amount by March, if you choose a sustainable routine and stick with it. I'm sure you know it's unlikely to be the whole 6 stone (84 pounds, to translate for other USAians like me). A pound a week might be a good target, pretty manageable, and you'd be down around one stone ten (24 pounds) by then.

I don't know about you, but my experience suggests that a moderate loss rate that one can stick with pretty happily can reach a reasonable weight loss total in less calendar time than something extreme that causes deprivation-triggered over-eating, breaks in the action, or even giving up altogether.

I'm about your age - turn 69 in November, and lost around 50 pounds back in 2015-16, now still maintaining a healthy weight. IME, the results are worth the effort.

I'm cheering for you to succeed with your goals, and hope that Malta will be a great place to celebrate your healthy, happy 70th!
