The database is largely user added, and is prone to being inaccurate. Also, green checked items aren't guaranteed to be correct either, plus you have to factor in that it's an international site, and calories of items differ between countries.

In short - can it be blindly trusted? No. But can you get to know it and build a recent list of correct and trusted entries that you've double checked against the label of the product, the website of the product, or the USDA database or something similar and still be very successful? Absolutely! It takes a bit of effort, but doesn't everything?

It's a mixed bag as the database is, as the previous person commented user entered. Plus nutritional data for some products might be outdated or from a different country. You need to check that what you select is accurate. If you have something you really can't find you can enter a new product. Use units people can work with, like per 100gr, and if you only eat half of it you log 0.5

Look at multiple entries for the same quantity of a certain food. If one is way higher or lower then it’s probably inaccurate.

If there is a food that you’re going to be consistently eating it’s incredibly important to make sure that you get that entry correct. You can go outside of the app to different websites and double check the numbers.

Many people when trying to lose fat will use the app and select the lowest caloric amount for the food that they want to enter, and that can really make them underestimate their overall calories, especially if it’s a food they eat consistently
